Max amounts of protein
This might sound like a silly question however Ive searched around the board and Im curious what the maximum amount of protein is recommended at a one time. I get my daily amount without a problem but Ive heard the body will not use more than 50grams at a time and it doesnt matter what your weight is. Im also tired of eating cottage cheese at night; sometimes I like a casein shake. If I eat a tub of cottage cheese its 24 grams but sometimes ill have a shake and bump it up to 50, does it make a difference? Either way by nightime I have met my protein requirements for the day.
Thanks

thats a great question i usually try to keep my normal meals at about 25-30 grams protein. after a workout i usually take in about 60 split between a protein drink and 45 mins later a full meal. i think it really depends on your body to be honest.

I think that 30-40g is all your body will absorb at one time, maybe a little bit more after working out. Thats always what i have been told. I have never really spoke to a nutritionist aboutit but if there is one on this board i am sure they could point us in the right direction. :nerdnew:

I've always gone by the rule of thumb that your stomach and your piss will be a good indicator of what you can handle. If your stomach is acting crazy then you probably just need to cut back a little. I seem to get about 50 grams per meal (and usually 70-80 PWO) without any problems but everyone is different.
You may also want to factor in a digestive enzyme when you first start a new diet so that you can overcome any problems you may have with digestion etc. Also, read this thread - it's pretty interesting. http://www.intense-training.com/foru...ad.php?t=22769 |

Thanks for the responses, I myself usually try to get in about 35 for a whole meal and 50 with a shake. I never have had any problems stomaching a lot at once but Ive always wondered if it was necessary or not. Thanks for posting that thread it was interesting. The last post was someone claiming to be a nutrionist in which he stated 70 would be the max. Im going to do a study on myself and my friend who is trying to gain weight and see how we react.
