i'm 18 and i've recently (last 3 months) have been trying to shed some of the flab and start building muscle. i'm by no means out of shape or over weight but i just wish to shape up the chest and arms and perhaps even begin to gain in muscle.
now to avoid paying for a gym, i started doing reps of 35 pushups/ day (pushups for chest and arms) and began cutting the fat foods out of my diet and began eating more protein like a can of beans every two days. i've been doing this for 3 months and its helped a bit but i just cant get rid of 100% of that extra flab on my chest. am i doing anything wrong? i cant seem to build anymore muscle on the chest to get that perfect chest shape. theres always that little pocket of flab at the tip that just dis-shapes everything despite the increase of muscle. what to do? anything wrong with the diet? more pushups? thx |

you're possibly building up a tolerance to your own body-weight... time to hit a real gym with weights.

to get rid of fat you need to eat clean and do cardio. to build muscle you need more intence training than push ups. gear tripper is right time to join a gym. a can of beans every 2 days? try tuna, chicken & shakes every day much better. good luck and dont get disapointed and give up..

I'm with tripper too. Your body recognizes your weight as a stable now. Time for more resistance. Cut carbs, up protein and do cardio to cut up some muscle. Look into some supps like whey protein/creatine to start off

there is a great book about resistance training without a gym by means healths authors check it out.
Your body is a very very effecient machine you will not be able to shock it without added resistance or different techniques for much longer, thats the reason for so many excersizes and so many workout theorys. Good luck !
