OK, whattya think about........

maccaroni and cheese? i was just lookin through my kitchen for some carbs when i came across a box of maccaroni and cheese. i looked at the nut. facts and was amazed to see that 1 box=just about 150 grams of carbs. now i know that these probably arnt the best carbs but its still 150 none the less. if i was to make it with very little butter and skim milk, and maybe add some tuna for protein, would this be a good source of carbs?

My stats are:
20 years
160 pds
5'10
goal: tryin gain, gain, gain

lemme know what you think,
sekc

Any kind of processed flour that is not whole grain will turn readily to sugar in your body causing an unwanted insulin surge that has the potential to convert to fatty acids to be stored as adipose fat tissue or stored in the liver to be used to manufacture cholesterol. The fact that you may add tuna will help because protein will stabalize some of the effects of those high glycemic carbs to a certain extent. However, using a whole grain pasta is a much healthier choice for carbs. Hope this helps brotha.

considering your stats... i would eat anything i could get my hands on. of course you won't want to limit yourself to junk-food, but go ahead and eat for the love of god. also, don't worry soo much on carbs or calories... but rather focus on getting tons of protein throughout the day. the weight will come, give it time.

This is true to a certain extent, but it depends on the person. "Clean" bulking is a much wiser choice for over all general health and so you won't have so much fat to lose when you start cutting. The more fat you have to cut, the more muscle you will lose as well. You need a balance of protein, good carbs (oatmeal, yams, brown rice, vegetables, etc.), and good fats (flax oil, natty nut butters, nuts, seeds, cold water fish, etc.). If you take in too much protein and your body can't use it to build muscle, it will store as body fat.
