Any ideas for making your own protein shake?

I heard a nutrition program on the radio and they had mentioned something about using dry powdered milk with something like orange juice I think to create some kind of protein drink. They said it is actually better then a whey protein drink because dry milk has enough proteins in it. Has anyone ever heard of this? Please let me know or any ideas for a home made protein drink. Thanks for any info.

i think those radio "suggestions" are for the "average" individual trying to do something quick and easy and healthy. the cost of a good protein shake is soo low, why would you want to make your own? in this day and age, i don't feel that you could make a compairable shake to those that you can purchase. you'd actually even end up spending easily twice as much money. if you're worried about taste... try MuscleMilk. people are usually worried about taste which is why they want something done at home (ie: orange juice, etc.) when you start throwing in juices, you adding tons of sugar... basically i could go on and on... but much better to buy a top-quality product.

if your not worried about price, isopure is the best.

50grams protein per serving
no sugar
no carbs,

it taste great too.
mixes well with milk, but i now use water, (which i swore i never would) and it's still good.

heres a quick shake.

milk/water
isopure vanilla or choc
1tbs peanutbutter
1/2 banana

muscle milk is also a great protein.

I agree with GT! Anyone that speaks of milk and says that it has enough "proteins" is def. NOT speaking to us. With out going into too much poo---your body can only process X ammount of protien at a time...whey protien commenly refered to as Pre-digested (eww) b/c it has opened up the ability to intake LARGE ammounts of protien @ one sitting. Gone are the days of drinking 8 soy protien shakes a day and passing the "protien cloud" along to the baby aligators in the sewer system! The Raido Guru probably also drinks ensure and drive 5 miles UNDER the speed limit for good measure In all seriousness they are appealing to the masses and not to the massive.

How much milk power and OJ would it take to satisfy a guy that weighs a soft 258 at 2g/Kg-LBM?

Thumbs up skim milk powder, orange juice & whey!!

Actually, using skim milk powder, orange juice and whey powder is one of my favorites! I would'nt bother with the milk powder and o.j alone, but the addition of whey powder (as well as egg protein powder when I happen to have it) make this combination the perfect time released protein shake. A good mix of fast and slow acting proteins. Yum
