Diet Q

Today I decided to start a cut. I decided to go low carb and high fat mod protein. My idea is to get in about 100 - 110 grams for fat for 3 days and 200 pro carbs will probably be as low as 0 - 20 grams (1700 - 2000 Cals). On the 4th day I will refeed keeping fat low. What kind of results do you guy think I may get out of this?

My stats
5'4
195
12 - 13 % bf.

the protein level seems low for you weight.

i was just on 4 weeks of a no carb high fat diet and did not drop any weight. i did seem to gain some muscle - but that wasn't what i wanted.

i was eating:

1 scoop isopure pre gym
gym
2 whole eggs, 4 egg whites
1 scoop ON whey with 1 tbsp natty pb
6oz chicken, 1/4 cup cashew
6oz chicken, 1/4 cup cashew
6oz lean beef, salad with balsamic & vinegrette
1 scoop ON whey with 1 tbsp natty pb

the values came out to be around 2200 cals, 80g's fat, 200+ pro, and about 40 carbs (these come from the nuts).

if you're thinking of going this route - just know that it really won't be "zero" carbs - you will on average get about 30-40 depending on how much nuts you take - unless you supplement the fats with fish oil caps instead of nuts - but the nuts is what makes you feel full.

up the protein and fat and give it a go - i didn't get anything out of it, but other ppl do well.

Interesting. I was on a all pb and pro diet and didnt notice much of a weightloss. If any it was water. My goal is to hit keto or mild keto.

so if you've already tried this diet and you didn't notice much of a weightloss, why are you trying it again to cut?

Ketosis can be lethal if you keep your body in it for too long. Although it's what your body must do to continue to burn fat. On the flip side, it can stop burning fat for energy, and start burning muscle instead. I think you do need to add more protein to your diet for sure. I also think you need to put an all carb meal in at your last meal 2 times a week. Either that or carb cycle. LIke M-W-F-S do trace carbs and high fats. Then on T -TH-SAT do moderate carbs at like 2 or 3 meals, and low fats. If you deprive your body of carbs for too long, it's only going to make you digress, rather than progress.

One more question, if you've done high fat/ high protein before, and didn't get the fat loss results again, might I ask why you chose to go this route again? Some people don't respond to high fats; myself included. It doesn't sound to me like this would be a good choice based on your past experience with this type of diet.

I have done the carb cycle approach and not even that helped. How much additional pro are we talking here?

1.5 to 2 grams per lb.

also, you might be someone who NEEDS to do cardio to cut. i know lots of guys on here say they don't need it - my boyfriend included - but some people just won't lose without cardio.

so if you're not doing any, time to step it up!

There could be something going on with your insulin and glucagon stabilization, as well as with your nitrogen balance. Timing may also be a factor with a loss of efficacy with a diet plan.

I agree with sana in that your protein may be too low. Re-adjust the protein to higher levels and watch how low you go on the fats - you need to eat "good" fats in order to burn fat.

could be a lot of things.

but if you change too many things at the same time, you won't know what's contributing to your weight loss or lack thereof.

i would keep your diet the same and try upping your cardio. after a few weeks of that not working - keep the cardio up and change your diet.

That's not entirely true. Ketosis can be achieved by cutting complex and simple carbs and still keeping fats low.

Bro, im going to try and not be mean here. This site is here for people to learn and acheive there goals so im glad your here for that. With that said, you dont have a ton of muscle. I dont know what your comparing yourself to but I and many others here actually compete in bodybuilding so when you say you have a ton of muscle im expecting more. You are not 5'4 195lbs at 12% bro. Not even close. Im sorry if this sounds mean but this is just to much.

Well what do you suggest? Do you suggest my decision of carb cycling with more cardio?

Well, you actually look like you need to gain some weight if you ask me. I would bulk bro, not cut. How can you honestly say that your 195lb at 5'4? Were you just making that up or what?

I've seen cheap home scales that will add 20lbs if they've been abused for enough years. You need to go by a doctor's scale...or at least a new home scale that isn't a cheapo model.

Because at 5'4 195lbs is VERY big. Its like saying someone that is 6 foot is 300lbs. It is very easy to see if they are or they are not. Are you really fat under all them clothes or something? This is an example of what 5'4 199lbs looks like, this is Lee Priest.
