My Diet

I am starting my diet in a couple of weeks. This is pretty much the layout:

Meal 1: 10:00 a.m.
Protein Shake
1 cup of oatmeal

Meal 2: 1:00 p.m.
Chicken breast
Sweet potato
1/2 cup black beans
1 cup of veggies

Meal 3: 4:00 p.m.
Chicken Breast
Sweet potato
1/2 cup black beans
1 cup of veggies

Meal 4: 7:00 p.m.
Chicken breast
sweet potato
1 cup of veggies

Meal 5: 10:00 p.m.
chicken breast
sweet potato
1 cup of veggies

Meal 6: 1:00 a.m.
Chicken Breast
1 cup of veggies

Supplements will be
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Glutamine
Niacin
multivitamin

After about 4 weeks I will drop the beans and add in 1 Tbsp of metamucil to each meal.

The diet will be followed religiously Sunday through Friday, then Saturday I will eat whatever I please and how I please.

I am hoping this diet will strip off 2lbs of fat a week, right now I currently weigh 228 at 5'8. So I plan on being a ripped up 200 if possible.

If weight loss is going to quickly then I will add in red meat for one meal, if weight loss is to slow, then fish will replace the chicken.

Very few condiments will be allowed. Mustard, hot sauce, small amounts of ketchup. My chicken will be grilled with a homemade spice rub I concocted. Salt free.

Tell me what you guys think.

I would start off with cutting the black beans altogether. I would also eliminate carbs after Meal4

Well the black beans will be introduced only to ,one, not make such a dramatic carb cut at first compared to what I was doing, and 2nd of all to add in some good ol' fiber.

For the 5th meal, I want to see what happens with that sweet potato, I may have to take it down to a 1/2 I dont know yet. I don't want to do anything real dramatic this far out.

I think your lacking some good fats in that diet. Maybe try to somehow incorporate a few tsp of flaxseed oil and extra-virgin olive oil into this diet.

To me fats are just another form of energy. I have gone on diets before where I did pro/fat meals only or pro/carb. This type of diet here really suites me the best. Fats can help some physiques but I really don't think it will hurt me that much if a leave them out for a 12 week period. I have a feeling that I will be adding a steak to one meal, that should be sufficent fat. Plus I will be gettting some fat from each chicken breast, not much, but some.

But when I do use fats for my diet I stick with olive oil or canola, you can get a lot more olive oil for your money than buying flax oil.

But now that you have me thinking, maybe a little bit of olive oil in that morning shake might not hurt ,and maybe a little peanut butter on that chicken breast for meal 6. I'll see how it goes from there, then adjust things.

Sounds good Bro. What works for you might not work for someone else. You are right about getting more for your money with olive oil versus flax oil but the two are very different fats. Olive oil is predominantly monousaturated fats whereas flax is polyunsaturated fats. The flax is also high in EFA's which is important to a healthy diet. I won't bore you with more facts but if you were going to incorporate some kind of oil into this diet I would make it one high in EFA (especially omega 3's). If you do go with olive oil though make sure its the extra-Virgin kind.

Your probably gonna get sick of chicken, so you might want to have some alternatives in mind.

I know, chicken can be a bitch eaten for that long of a period of time. But the only alternative I can do is add different seasonings to it. This is a very strict diet and no matter how tired i get of something I must have the discipline to go through it.

The only way I can add other alternatives for protein sources just depends on how my body reacts. Thats the main thing. This is hardcore bodybuilding dieting.

Thank God for those Saturdays. Be the only day of the week I have something to look forward to.

Why not add lean red meat a couple of times a week for the iron and a can of tuna several times during the week for the protein and variety? What kinds of vegetables do you plan on having? You may get me thinking what kind of vegetables I can add to my diet. A few salads in there for roughage will aid in the digestion process as well. Also, a 1 oz block of low-fat cheese will give you some good fats and help you feel full after a meal. I have found in my own diet, that eating a handful of almonds and drinking a glass of water sometime during the day gives me a good snack that fills me up. At least you have a plan. My wife thinks I'm crazy because I plan my workouts and try to plan my meals in advance. Good luck with the weight loss!
