Healthy fat?

Looking for some feedback on the use of coconut oil as a source of healthy fat or MCTs. It seems like it would be a good option and could give my brown rice a pleasant change of flavor. Are there any negatives to using coconut oil for bodybuilding purposes? I would not be eliminating flax/omega fats, just mixing it up some more. Thx.

Is this spelled right "your a douche bag"?

BB good question. I think it is a good source for MCT. I will research it further. so far i know its high in saturated but it has no cholesterol (veg oil).

From everything I've seen, I believe that it would be a good addition for a source of fats, but I was wondering cause I never hear anybody (bodybuilder or other) talking about using it. I just know another healthy source of fats would be useful and I can imagine a lot of ways to use coconut flavor to jazz up some meals.

it's "you're a douchebag"..."your" is a possessive pronoun, like "his" and "theirs;" "you're," on the other hand, is formed from the words "you" and "are," as in, "you are a douchebag"

Yes, it's a good fat to use. The saturated fats in coconut oil are mostly MCTs, so they don't stick around and exert the bad effects usually associated with saturated fats; they are metabolized in the liver to make ketones, which are burned, preserving glucose and amino acids for muscle cells (good for bulking). The flavor is also nice in many dishes.

You may have seen Enova in the grocery store near the other oils; it's not MCTs, but they operate on the same principle, being used for energy instead of stored. I don't know how it compares to coconut oil for price, but it's very mild and pretty flavorless, making it good for recipes where you don't really want the coconut business going on. I've been working on recipes using the beta version of a cooking oil made with Enova, MCTs, lecithin, vitamin E, and SesaThin that is very promising in the "Lean fats" department along with coconut oil and straight Enova. It has a sort of nutty taste with the benefits of other fat-burning ingredients, but it's not out in the market just yet.

Just out of curiosity, do you take fish oil in addition to your flax?

Yes, I put oil in my brown rice. It's pretty good, if you like coconut rice. I got the idea cause I sometimes make rice with coconut milk. I basically just replace half of the water with coconut milk when boiling the rice and it gives it a very nice flavor.
Anyway, now I sometimes just add coconut oil after I'm done making the rice. I think last time I put 2tbs into 1cup of rice (dry measurement). It is solid at room temp, but, if you mix it in right after you make the rice, it'll melt and you can mix it in. It's yummy!
