Which is a better breakfast?
im undecided as to which is a better breakfast; oatmeal and 6 eggs (2 whole + 4 whites), or oatmeal and 1/2 a tub of cottage cheese. it feels like eggs are a better choice because they are king of the protein jungle, however technically cottage cheese seems smarter because it contains a fair chunck of whey protein, meaning ill have protein in my blood faster. plus, the 2 yolks and olive oil, means the protein will be slower digested still. what do you think; quality of protein to make sure i have good stuff in my blood, or fast digesting protein to make sure my muscles are being worked on asap? ps. i dont use whey protein concentrate or isolate so thats not an option

Personally, I have a 20g whey shake with morning vitamins upon waking, usually while my oatmeal/grits and eggs are cooling down a little. This way, I get fast protein to stop sleep induced catabolism, and whole food protein and carbs to last for the next two hours. The proteins should not interfere with each other's absorption, and at a dosage that is still fully utilized.

Sorry, I did not see that you don't use whey powder. Would you consider soy protein shakes, or is it just the fact that it is not whole food that bothers you?

nah, i dont just really believe in most supplements. i mean think about it, look at a big juicy sirloin steak next to a little plastic cup with some white powder in it. which is going to make you grow? i have used lots of whey protein in the past, without depending on it and have never been impressed. the best bodybuilding results i have ever had was when i was living in south america, eating only top grade organic vegetables and free-range organics meats and dairy, along with lots of rest. right now im on another supplement-free stint and am also having great results. im not gaining weight super fast, but its looks like very high quality, hard, lean muscle. so basically, yes, i dont like supplements

Why don't you cut the olive oil, use one less yolk, and if you want to up the protien add one more white. You want the nonfat protiens in the morning since you have straved your body of protien for a good length of time. The cottage cheese is slow digestion and it's best not to put carbs with the fat. Use that before bed.

I have heard Sean Ray say about the exact same thing... prefers to eat his nutrition.. not drink it.

The point of taking the yolks out is to reduce the fat and keep the protien absorbtion rate fast.

Particularly, if the eggs are being eaten first thing in the morning, it is important to allow the protein to reach the system ASAP. 6 eggs of fat (over 30 gms of fat) is a lot first thing in the morning.

Damn, I didn't even read the part about no whey protein. I get about 100 to 200 grams of protein per day from whey... |
