Carrots
Nutritional value of carrots?
I have a bag of baby carrots I brought to work as a snack and to help me get to eating 6 or so times a day instead of 2 or 3. Just wondering if anyone has any good or bad comments about them, or if they have other suggestions on easy snacks that can be taken to work without issues. |

Carrots have a lot of sugar in them. Not a terrible snack, just not the best choice for veggies. How about broccoli?

Not a big broccoli fan, but I could give it a try. Maybe I'll warm to it over time.
The hardest thing for me to get nailed down is a diet. I have never really gone about it as if it was a science, but just tried to eat things that I knew were decent foods when I put forth an effort to eat clean. Maybe I should try to get something more concrete down and hold to it. I know it sounds the opposite, but I tend to stick to things that are more strict than I do with more generalized things. |

No problem at all with thinking it may be overkill. Right now I would say cutting for the simple fact that I am trying to lose the extra fat in my stomach and get to a good base point before moving on from there. I only tend to hold fat in my mid section and rarely show any elsewhere in my body. Right now I'm at 6'2" 230lbs. The last 2 years I have been out of the gym and eating just about anything without concern about a diet. I've caught myself several times with crap from the vending machine at work and a Dr.Pepper for breakfast. Yes, that's bad... It's just hard to say what my diet is like, because for the past few years since I got away from working out and other things I haven't stuck to anything really. I eat a lot of chicken and some tuna and have just recently started to cook up some of bouncer's turkey recipe that he posted a long time ago. My goal is to get back to my old stats or a little better which was 230lbs and lean. Once I get there I'll be happy again to some degree and will be looking to build on from that point. It just took a while for me to see me drop out of shape and to see a friend move into a successful career in figure to actually get my head straight and start getting back into the gym again. As of this week my diet has been some isopure whey in the morning with milk at about 7:00am. Then at 11:30 for lunch I just tried to eat anything that appeared healthy, from chicken breast to oatmeal. Around 3:30 a thing of tuna with the relish and mayo that comes in a shaker thing. Then workout from 5-6:30. Have another whey shake at about 6:45 and then try to eat something about an hour later. Typically chicken breast and possibly a salad. Then i'm in bed at about 10:30 or so. |

In comparison to other veggies (such as greens, your best choice), they are high in sugar. I did add that they were not a terrible choice, just certainly not the best choice. Depends on his goals....

I tried the veggies thing but couldn't stick to it. I needed something more fulfilling, so now I bring fruit to work. Apples, bananas, oranges, thats sort of stuff. Not as good as broccoli, but it's healthier than snacking from the vending machines.
