Question When To Take Protein and how much

Hey what's up... sorry to bug you but i had a quick question, i was wondering if you could help me answer it... i read in one of the post that "you need to make sure you are supplying your body with AT LEAST 1-1.5gms of protein per lb of bodyweight"... so if i weigh 210lb then i need to take 210 grams of protein a day? and also i was wondering when i should take the protein? half before the work out and half afterward or what?

If your goal is to build muscle, then 210 would be the minimum. Ideally you should shoot for 1.5-2g of protein per day. Don't split it into just two doses. This number should be split up to about 5-6 doses throughout the day. So if your goal is to get 210g per day, then start out in the morning with a 35g shake or meal and then maybe about 2 hours later or so get in another 35g and so on. But do make sure that you get one in after you workout. This is one of the most important times.

Just to make this totally clear, you want the majority of your protein to come from whole foods like chicken, beek, fish, etc. Your meals should also include some whole grain carbs like rice. Check out some of the sample diets to see what an average meal and day looks like.

just like beefcake says, split up the doses throughout the day in 5-6 meals a day. Meals do not have to be all big but as long as they are well balanced and good quality foods (proteins and carbs).

I usually take between 30-50 grams of protein per meal, not including the 4 shakes i take through out the day.
