Sodas....

Are diet sodas actually worse for you then regular sodas? The reason why i ask is because i some times have a soda but i always get diet cuz of course.. no sugar, carbs, HFCS.. and the second reason is some dude told me in class today that is was worse..

Im sure its all bad for you but sometimes the carbonated taste hits the spot!

It's all garbage anyways...You might as well take Cell Tech products...They all have the same shit...Just drink water(I know, it's redundant)and add some lime and stevia

So you believe everything you hear? :hmmm:

It's not the best choice, but a soda is not going to kill you - diet or otherwise....

You have to provide your email addy for this article, but it has some interesting news. Also, that being said I do drink Diet Lime Coke, so I'm not living by this article either.

I would have to totally agree with the article. I take my kids to mcDonalds to play every so often and every mom in there gets DIET coke and they are all over-weight. I drink reg. when i have the craving. I honestly believe that drinking diet makes your body crave more carb's food because when you drink diet, it doesn't contain the carbs... therefore causing you to eat more bad foods and gain more weight.

I disagree - they are overweight because they're at eating McDonalds not because they're drinking Diet Coke. I drink Diet Coke - I'm not overweight.....

I think whether it's diet or regular, if you're drinking half a gallon of soda at a time, you're going to be over-weight. Everything in moderation really does work. I would dare say that the over-weight moms are there more than every-so-often. That's the problem. Too much.

Did you know that there's the same amount of sugar in 8 oz of apple juice as there is in 8 oz of soda? Nobody claims that drinking too much apple juice makes you fat.

Yeah but thats natural sugar, soda is all synthetic. When I have a diet soda, it never makes me want or crave unwanted carbs and eat unhealthy?? It's actually hard to drink regular soda because you can taste how freakin sweet it is. I used to drink regular soda like every day back when i didn't care about what i was eating but after sticking with water and changing diet for so long (i dont really care for juice), if i was to drink a regular soda, it would be like drinking maple syrup cuz its soo sweet and it doesnt taste the same like it used to be.

As far as fat people drinking diet more than fit people.. Yeah, i see it every day, some fat dude drinking a diet soda at a buffet but has 4 plates of pizza stacked 4 feet high.. u know??? its stupid.

Actually that doesn't matter. All sugar is natural. It's just refined and processed and concentrated. Even the sugars in juices are concentrated because you're missing all of the pulp. You'd have to eat a hell of alot of apples to equal the sugar content of a glass of apple juice. As far as carbohydrates go, there's no difference between 26 grams of sugar from apples and 26 grams of sugars from soda. It represents the same amount of carbs.

dont buy concentrated juice. Only juice i buy is OJ and it says "not from concentrate". it has the pulp and everything like if you hand squeezed it. I don't think in any way that a juice could be worse or at the same level as a soda.

Actually, I have heard that drinking orange or apple juice will put weight on you because it is processed and refined, but eating an apple or orange is much better for you because your body has to expend more calories to actually digest the fiber and pulp. Therefore, it is much better to eat a whole fruit vs. consuming processed fruit juice.

There you go. That's what I was trying to say before. To get the same amount of juice eating whole fruit would be a bit ridiculous.

OK, here's the thing. Juice is technically already concentrated. It takes quite a few oranges/apples to get one glass of orange/apple juice and you have alot of fiberous material left over, not just a bit of pulp floating around in the juice. One orange/apple doesn't have the equivalent of one glass of juice in it, so it's not like eating a couple of oranges/apples. It's like eating a six or seven oranges or around two dozen apples. And eating half a dozen oranges a day is pretty much overkill.

And I'm not saying that overall, juice is worse or at the same level as a soda. As far as sugar content yes, they're comperable. As far as overall nutrition. Um, yeah, it's obvious that juice is better because the carbonation and acid and syrup in soda is the worst part of it, not the sugar.

I like having Pepsi or Coca Cola at least once per day. I think in moderation they will not harm you.

little snipit I copy and pasted.

Carbon dioxide is a waste product of cellular and food metabolism, as such the body wants to expel it. Carbonated beverages also burden the body by weakening stomach acid, thereby interfering with proper digestion.

Um, yes it is the sugar we're discussing here, because when the thread was started, the question was are diet sodas (with no sugar) better for you than regular sodas. YOU're the one discussing carbonation.
