Of the following options, which would you say is the best source for good carbs and why:
- Oatmeal - Sweet potatoes - Brown rice - Wheat pasta

Whole wheat pasta is slower to digest than brown rice. Oatmeal is lower on the glycemic index than rice or sweet potatoes. Another good source is barley. I haven't ever tried it, so I can't speak for the taste. Honestly though, all of those are good carb sources. I don't think you really need to worry with the minute differences if you're just eating them to be "healthy" etc.

I'm not sure about the "BEST" because they're all pretty much equal IMO...
However, for ease of use/time/preparation/ingestion etc I would opt for oats - you can eat them dry - you can add water - you can put them in a shake - you can add protein powder/peanut butter/honey/cinnamon/fruit etc with them and so on. You just can't say the same for any of the others....

So most prefer oats do to their versatility, but none are actually better for you than the other? (taken into account what FB said)
B, is there are reason why you don't eat pasta?

I eat whole wheat bread. The problem is that most "wheat bread" is really white bread which is dyed brown with mollasses. If the first ingredient is "enriched wheat flour" it's garbage. There's also Ezekial bread which is supposed to be excellent but I can't find it in japan :thumbsdow

It depends on the bread. Again, most wheat bread is garbage. Your best bet is to buy wheat bread from a health food store (make sure you read the label and keep it in the refrigerator because it will mold really fast). With pasta the G.I. depends on the thickness as well as how you cook it. The less you cook it the the lower the G.I. So if you eat pasta make sure it's firm and thick ![]()

It is best to keep bread in the freezer. That will keep it fresh for a long time - just thaw a loaf or part of a loaf by removing it from the freezer and sticking into the fridge overnight.
