weight gainer question

I was curious whats everyone's opinion on weight gainers? a buddy of mine was telling me to that he is taking this weight gainer that has 1500 calories and 100 grams of protein twice a day and he eats maybe one or two more meals and that is his diet.He was suggesting I do that as well.Do you think that is a good idea?I've read that the body can only consume so much protein at once somewhere in the ballpark of 60 grams of protein. I usually drink two shakes a day about 60 grams each along with my other meals.

Weight Gainer=Sugar(just about all of them)They spike your insulin levels up...Hence why you eat more...

You want to put on weight? Eat 6 good meals a day...And have your Protein(Casein or Whey)shakes with some natty pbr and berries.

You should post up what you eat ED...

Not enough food...And I bet that ham, salami, turkey is probably processed stuff you're eating.

do a seach dude, and find out what other people are eating for a bulking diet. i go to school full time and work so its tough for me to get in enough calories a day, so i just make my own weight gainer shake consisting of 1cup oats 2tbsp pb 2 scoops whey and a banana. its cheap and quick to make. also if you are trying to gain weight you could add cheese to your eggs, that might make them more tolerable for you. you should list of current weight and goals so we all can help you out. but i would start by doing a seach and reading up on that shit.

Weight gainers are fine, as long as YOU know what goes in them. And you do that by creating your own. Theres myriad of examples of solid weight gainers on this board.

Ya, weight gainers have so many cals because of sugar. Whole meals are best and you can make your own weight gainers.

For example. In a blender add, 1 cup whole oats, 2-3 tbsp natural PB, 1 banana, 2 scoops protein, ice and water. taste great and much better for you then something with 100 grams of sugar.

Appreciate that Bouncer! I was actually looking at that recipe you had for that peanut butter chocolate shake too. That looks good! I'll give both those ideas a try thanks bro.One more thing I alway tried to get 2 grams of protein per LB but I have heard from some people that 1- 1.3 per LB is right. Is 2 grams right or is it 1 gram?

i would say for someone starting out, use 1 gram of LB as your very minimum. aim for 1.5. I think for people starting out 2grams can be a little much and hard on the kidneys. just make sure you get in 1 gram per LB at minumum.
