Before I train, I don't have anything unless I'm really hungry...I drink a shake 3hrs before I hit the weights...After the gym, I do have my Labrada choc shake...And then about an hour later I have my meal...If you want to up your cals and not gain to much fat...What I do is eat most of my cals during the early day and taper it down as the night progresses.

Here's what I typically do;

Bkfst- 7 eggs(2 whole), tomatoe slices, bacon(turkey), 2 slices of nut bread and Smart balance cheese on the eggs...Cup of coffee and a grapefruit.

shake(oats and berries)

snack-natty pbr sand with a banana.

lunch-chicken/kobe beef burger, brown rice, veggies, fruit(apples or pineapple) and salad with almonds and extra virgin olive oil dressing with balsamic.

snack-cottage cheese with peaches.

whey shake(this is roughly 2-3hrs before gym...I try not to eat solids before I train)

gym

labrada shake, oats, berries.

dinner-chicken/pork/skirt steak, lima beans, veggies, rice pilaf, yams, salad, etc...In no particular order.

This has kept me leaner and I like it....I still cruise at 202-204lbs ED...My waist is 32" and I have no complaints...Try different things...Up the cals in the morning would be my advice and diminish it as the day goes by...I also don't have a "set time" for my meals...I listen to my body...This here is not a lot of cals, but it gives you an idea as to what I mean...I like to eat most of my cals 1st thing and diminish it through the day.

My pre-workout meal is no more than 250 calories.. I usually have a protein shake or some oats with 1/2 scoop of protein powder and a tiny piece of nanna.

I find the oats pre-workout work great for me and get me fired up, not that I am not already,

I train about an hour and a half after my first meal of the day. 1 cup oats, 2tbsp natural PB, 2 scoops whey, 1 banana, ice and water, all blended up in a blender. also 2 cups of coffee.

bascially my question was: is 350 cals 60 minutes before my workout too much too close to my workout? I dont want my body digesting food while i am trying get a pump - my diet is consistent, and i am very happy with my bf% - i was just trying to tweak it - add some clean cals and see if i can put on some lean mass

thanks for the responses
