Chocolate-flavored whey with hot water?

Is there any downside to trying chocolate-flavored whey with hot water? I am wondering if it would taste like hot chocolate. Would it denature the protein if did so? I would heat the water first and then add the protein, not the other way around.

I have done it before. It does sort of taste like hot chocolate. The texture does change though so I assume that means damage to the protein. How much damage I dont know. Anyone have any info of whey's damage point related to heat?

I would if they would only have it on TV here. They haven't had it on for a few years now since Fox Sports stopped owning the broadcast rights to it in the US. Now, some other company owns it and they only offer it on PPV.

I don't know about any other protein powder but I know muscle milk mocha joe flavor actually recomends on the label to try it with hot water because it tastes like a regular mocha.

Yeah but it still means hot water doesn't change the quality of the protein.

from a little bit of reading, it sounds like you don't want your whey over 160 degrees or it will denature - below boiling. and i guess you should look for whey that is processed at a low temperature so it's not denatured during the processing.
