Critique: Grocery List

Critique: Grocery List

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My new approach to my diet is i guess more aimed at heart healthy products. I switched all fats to omega 3 containing products and try to keep them at a minimal. I also use alot of sugar free products. I dont want to be diabetic. Reading 1/3 of our country is in a pre diabetes state I decided to say fuck the sugar I dont need it. If I ever opt for natural sweetner its a natural one like Honey or raw unbleached products. I also use the color approach with eating vegatables and fruit for the antioxidants. The richer and brighter the color the better. Reds, Purples, and Blues being the best.

Butter is I cant beleive its not butter spray and the new mediterean blend tub of the same brand.

I make my own salad dressings using canola oils and evo.

I use a mayo containing omega 3s

I replaced sour cream with low or free fat yogurt

I also make veggie dip like ranch or sour cream and onion using the same yogurt and spice mix packs like ranch or onion soup or dip mixs

Milk was replaced with Rice Dream plain Enriched

I dont have salt in my spice rack. Everything has enough salt to get by on(cant make everything homemade) No sugar.

Proteins include:
Chicken Breast( boneless skinless)
Salmon
Eye of round steaks
Tuna fish
Ground Turkey(still hate the smell when it cooks)
Whole Peanut butter
Eggs or egg beaters
Shrimp(when on sale)

Protein lunch meats Include:
Turkey breast
Low sodium boiled Ham

Fats:
Canola Oil
Evo
I cant beleive its not butter spray( actually zero fat)
I cant beleive its not butter tub mediterean blend
Almonds
peanuts
Avocados
Fish borage and flax blend pill( one daily)
Coconut Oil

Vegatables include:
Frozen Stir Fry Blends, Saladblends(No Iceberg)Romaine, Kale , Swiss chard, green leaf,Tomatoes, Broccoli, fresh green beans,Squashes,Pumpkin(canned) and anything that has colors red, purple, blue, orange, yellow including Red pepper, bell peppers, Sweet potatoes, onions, carrots,Purple cabbage(mostly for slaw) and carrots, asparagus. As market and seasonals allow. Also Kim Chee( korean Pickled Cabbage) and seaweed paper

Fruits include:
Blueberrys, pomengrantes, blackberries, rasberries, strawberries etc..( I buy frozen mixed). Bannanas, pomengrantes, ocassional Red grapefruit or blood orange. Im not big on fruits cause the sugars but the health benefits make me treat myself a little. Avacados I love.

Breads and grains Include:
whole wheat breads and buns
Whole wheat or grain low carb wraps containing flax
Brown rice
Oatmeal
cheerios
high protein low carb cereals
Whole wheat flour(for occasional dusting seafood or meat)

Desert foods include:
Berries and fruits
Sugar free puddings
Plain fat free yogurts( mix with fruit or sugar free pudding or protein powder)
Protein bars or shakes (as money permits)
Peanut butter
almond butter(as money permits)

Snacks include:
Blue corn chips(baked)
Whole grain Chips(baked)
Fresh Salsa
Bannana Chips( only when I have a killer potato chip craving)
almonds
Protein Shakes and bars(as money Permits)

Items newly added: Coconut Oil, Seaweed Paper, Kim Chee, Fish, borage and flax blend pills. Oh and those tiny Probiotic drinks.

Next product considering:
Pumpkin seed Butter (check it out!)

I do use some convienence foods but for the most part I make my food homemade. This makes eating more affordable

Will post diet, recipes, and routines later this month as I am just getting back in the swing of things

Any and all comments appreciated

Its good to be "Heart healthy" but some things you switched to are just as bad. For example, anything like "sugar free pudding" is loaded with chemicals etc.. just stick to the fruits for your desert.

"lunch meat" is also garbage. even the low sodium stuff is still no good. stick to whole meats and chicken, not lunch meat.

overall you are eating pretty good and healthy. keep it up but make a few changes.

Thanks for the input.....I will definately consider removing these few things.....

I love the sf pudding with the ff yogurt...makes a great choc mousse

Also the turkey veg + pepper jack cheese roll ups or ham veg sandwich roll ups i use for a quick lunch only......a whip it up and out the door food. eat whilst driving or walking....lol

but I have strong goals in mind
