Question weight gainer question

I'm looking to start bulking pretty soon...and of course I'm looking forward to it as it is a little bit more fun than dieting. Anyways, I've been checking into some weightgainers and the thought crossed my mind...which is a better way to go on the gainers...a high calorie or a high carb gainer? Then I was thinking that I might use a high calorie gainer early in the day...like for my second meal and then have the high carb either pre or post workout which would be meal 5 or 6. I wasn't sure yet and wanted to see what some people thought.
Also, what brand gainers are good ones to be using? I currently have 2 six pound cytogainers made by cytosport which is high carb...well somewhat high carb...around 86g I think.
Thanks for any feedback!

Hey brother, good to hear you get to bulk

More often than not, high calorie equals high carb (ie. N-Large 2). MOST gainers are loaded with malto. which is a simple sugar, so you're more likely to add fat as opposed to muscle mass. My suggestion is screw commercial gainers and make your own! These are cheap, easy to make and taste awesome....

15oz water (or milk)
2 scoops natty peanut butter
1/3 cup crushed oatmeal
1/3 cup cottage cheese (optional)
2 scoops whey powder (or protein blend powder)
1 table spoon flax or fish oil.

I was hoping you'd post that again...I couldn't find where that or where I had put it. Thanks bro!
You don't have to reply over at CM or at MM because I posted this there also.

I like weight gainer.. commercial ones... sorry YJ. I just dwn have the time...nor the inclination to make my own.

U prefer them either in the morning...or post workout... any other time and your asking fro trouble from the sugar...

And actually if i work out at night... I cut the gainer serving in half and add some whey so that I dont injest a large amount of carbs.

I would just settle for whole foods or just use (by looking at your name-a guy)
3-4 scoops of protein powder and 1/2 cup of yams w/2 tablespoons of strawberry perseves and 15 flaxseed oil softgels or 2-3 tbs of flaxseed oil
