Pistons- Pacers

How many people watched the game last night? 36-30 Pistons @ half-time.... By halftime i had no interest in seeing the end because it was so incredibly boring. The cycle started and ended the same way... Pacers take the ball up, throw it away or get blocked, and the Pistons recover. The Pistons take the ball down the floor, shoot and miss because they're horrible on the offensive side of the ball. This cycle continued throughout and made this game one of the worst ever. Woe be unto whoever pulls out the win in thie series.... the Lakers are going to own them. Final was 85-78 Pistons... if u wondered. Rasheed led the pistons w/ 20, Jermain led Indiana w/ 24

But remember the days when Jordan and the Bulls were defensive giants, 3/5 starters made the all-defense team (1,2). And they were monsters on the offensive end too (duh ). That's the D I'm interested in.

Yeah I know all the Bulls but teams like that only come around every once in a great while. The NBA is alot different now with all these highschool players

Scrumhalf will become famous soon enough
I loved to watch the NBA in the 80s (anybody here old enough to remember that? lol). The offense was so much smoother and players actually knew how to shoot and pass the ball.

These days, the sequence goes like this: point guard takes 8 or 9 seconds to bring the ball up the court, at which point one of 2 things happen: either he passes it into the low post who tries to back into the lane and when a double team comes, kick the ball out to someone at which point there may be 7 or 8 seconds left on the clock, or the point guard or shooting guard spends the next 10 seconds doing some kind of 1 on 1 isolation move, and then realizing that the clock is running out throws up a brick.

One of these days, I will spend some time analyzing this in more detail - I don't have the data to prove it but it seems to me that smooth shooters like Alex English and Jeff Malone who were such treats to watch are really an endangered species these days.

I am really not an old curmudgeon although I may sound like one in this post

The Eastern Conference is garbage.....I pity the fools that are gonna run into the Lakers and get bitch-slapped.
