I really wish Sheffield would have pulled that loser over the fence and beaten him within an inch of his life. Taking a swipe at a player is never right, but sucker-punching him in the mouth while he's making a play on the ball is the absolute pinnacle of cowardess!

I'm not too fond of Sheffield but I think he definately did the smart thing by not hitting the moron. He saved himself the law suit. People these days are ridicolous

At least Sheffield didnt beat him. He showed more self control than alot of people could have in a situation like that. i bet that the fan pissed his pants when he saw Sheffield reaching over the wall for his throat. way too much beer drinkin and not enough thinkin.

May be overpaid (as every pro athlete is) but he doesn't get paid to have to deal with fans physically interfering with his play on the field.

It seems pretty obvious that he does.... until they put up plexy glass or some type of barrier, dealing with fans is a part of his job. Might as well earn his money somehow....

Do you feel the same way if I turn it around, and say that since fans are not completely divided from the players, it should be understood that part of the experience of attending a sporting event might include an athlete throttling you because he didn't like your taunts?

It's people with attitudes like you that will lead to MLB putting in plexiglass, and it'll deprive the fans that UNDERSTAND they should NEVER 'break the plane' of the fence from enjoying unobstructed views.

Will never happen. The biggest brawl between fans and players was the Pacers/Pistons brawl, see any railing or barriers put up around NBA courts? Nada.
