World Baseball Classic
So I watched the last two innings today of USA vs Japan. (I was doing it to fall asleep
 ) Anyways, in the top of the 8th the refs overturned a call that took away Japan's one point lead and gave them 3 outs with the bases loaded. When showing the replay it was clear the overturn call was wrong. The Japanese guy was taging up on third with a fly ball to left field and one out on the inning. The ball was caught (making it 2 outs) he tagged up and ran home (giving Japan the one point lead). When the refs origianlly were asked if he left early the call was no and that the run was good. Then after a ref discussion the home ump (also the chief umpire) he decided that the Japanese guy left early so it takes the run away and ends the inning. USA then goes on to win in the 9th. I am just waiting to see how much shit comes from this. There has been so many problems with this classic. I saw on SC that during one of Cuba's game there was a fan holding up and anti-castro sign. Cuba's pitchers then refused to take the field until the problem go taken care of.

Cuban baseball players have a pretty fierce loyalty to their president. The ranks of Castro supporters have grown thin since the 1950s when Castro, Cienfuegos and Guevara overthrew the government. Political statements in sports like that aren't uncommon; in the 2004 Olympics an Iranian judo competitor and a likely medal contender refused to compete against an Israeli because he believed -- as does the Iranian president, fyi -- that Israel does not have the right to exist as a state

..as for the call, that happens in baseball -- there is no replay, and there are questionable calls throughout the baseball season

I watched another replay and I can see how they though he left early. He run's a little different than US players. He is croutched real low getting ready to run and as the ball was almost into the glove he started pushing up, but his foot didn't leave the bag until the ball was caught. There is a clip of it on ESPN.com
