The Pens had some very costly mistakes that are not really their nature. Add that to playing against Detroit and it's a disaster in the making. The Pens seems distracted by the stage.

The Pens showed rust from being off for so many days...they didn't have any jump and they were uncharacteristically sloppy.

I caught the 3rd period -what a game! I love the kind of end to end hockey that this game had. At one stretch, I think the game went for over 5 minutes without a stoppage!

The Wings' smothering checking has ruined this series....I'm not going to bother watching the next (and likely final) game either.

I turned it on in the 3rd period and watched the whole overtime. Pitt got lucky...but this could give them life. Next game is in their building, and a long game like this will take more out of the older Detroit players' legs most likely...so Pitt should have the jump on them for Game 6.

I watched it through 2OT. I am so tired this morning. I can't tell if Pit just lets up around the third for some reason or if Det is just that good at finding their way back... One thing I do notice that kills Pit is that when the pens are on a power play it doesn't look like a power play. The only time that Pit looked like they had a man advantage was on the empty net goal to send it to overtime. Otherwise they look like they are playing 5 on 5 during their power plays. I know it's more luck than anything, but it's kind of crazy that Sykora called the game winning goal.

They did get lucky. Detroit outskated and out-defensed them; hands down. But, one of the reasons I think they won is because they have such a young team, and those younger guys could stand playing almost 2 hours of hockey. Detroit has a lot of vets, so I think stamina just had a lot to do with it.

I still can't believe they scored w/ less than 30 seconds to go in the 3rd!

Sykora was one the main reason for NJ Devils success.

LeFleury is a freaking MANCHILD, btw! He is the only reason they were still in the game.

After the 1st OT- the Pens finally got smart and were playing much better defense on the puck....Less guys around the net, and more to defend center ice & the net. I'm so happy they won- I can't stand the Red Wings.

And, can someone please explain to me the significance of the octopus? I know it's tradition in Detroit, but how did something like that get started?
