French Toast Sticks

Here is a breakfast recipe that you might like. Very easy to make and not much fat or calories.

8 slices reduced calorie whole grain bread
1 cup egg substitute
1/4 cup skim milk
Dash nutmeg
1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Slice each piece of bread into 4 slices. Combine egg substitute, milk, spices and sugar and mix well. Spray a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Quickly dip bread slices into egg mixture making sure all sides are coated. Cook until golden brown, approx. 2 minutes per side. Serve with powdered sugar or syrup.

Makes 4 Servings

126 calories breaks down too 2 slices of french toast normally with no syrup or sugar what so ever. Hmmm. Hate to say it but I love frenchy toast with butter and syrup and I can eat like 14 slices. I don't do it all the time though.

I use it more for a snack than an actual meal.

Nice recipe, looks good! Ill have to try it. Have you ever tried sugar free syrup? Its a pretty good replacement. Ill also use Smartbalance spread w/Omega-3. Closest thing to butter for toast.
