Question Muscle twitching

I'm driving yesterday and my left upper pec starts to twitch :hmmm: I've had this happen to me before...But lately it's doing this more and more...Sometimes I get it in my left forearm...Why or what is this?

As much as I hate to respond to you, I will give info for the good of others. Generally there are two things. One is dehydration. The other is and effect of the muscle making sure it's not dying. Kind of like the sleepless leg syndrome. Your brain sends a signal to muscles to make them twitch to make sure they are not dying. There is a much more complicated explanation to it but that is the simplest form of it.

I'm not sure "dying" is the correct term lol. Where did you get this at? By far the most common reason for muscle twitching is stress either physical or mental. Dehydration is more associated with muscle cramping then muscle twitching.

I get twitches all the time, legs, forearms etc..

It was in one of the books when I was taking physical therapy classes. That's basically the way the teacher explained it. The muscle is fatigued and stress and something with the nervous system allows it to lie dormant to recover. This happens a lot after surgery (granted that's a more extreme case), but somewhere the nervous system is getting confused and is checking to make sure the muscle is there. We didn't cover it much because it was much more advance than the class I was taking. But he went on to discuss the use of electrotherapeutic treatments.
