Unhappy Seeing a therapist

Since my Father has passed back in '00, I've had sleep issues here and there, but never this bad. My mind is about to explode & it just never stops. My career doesn't help it either. I'm typically on the run 12 to 14hrs a day. I drive about 140-175 miles EDI find time for the gym, the wife and my son.

On top of taking care of the bills and everything that comes along with having a family. But I sit here once again(not tired), watching her sleep and my mind doesn't fucking stop. I really need to seek a therapist. Next week I plan to take off the entire week so that I can just relax. My BP seems to be normal, my gym time is fucking great while being off for about 2 months now.

In the past two weeks, I've done 4 days without sleep. Meaning I just stay up typically for about 36-40hrs and hit the sack. Then I sleep like a brick. This will be the 5th day. I don't see myself going to sleep when my alarm goes off at 7am now.

I talk to my Mother almost EOD and my good friends a few times a week and they worry about me; well so does my better half. But I can't help it. I can't seem to find any "out of the ordinary" issues(other than sleeping right)with myself, so I don't get it

I drink my glass of wine EOD now, rather than ED. Haven't taken an Ambien(and I refuse to do so)in a couple of weeks, so who knows. I'm scheduling a visit tomorrow in hopes I can see someone this week. I don't like shrinks either, but I'm at a point right now that I need to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone; it sucks

Good luck bro. I think that there is way too much stigma associated with mental health issues. You shouldn't feel bad about having issues any more than you'd feel bad about having any other health related issue. I hope things turn around for you.

One word- Lexapro

Sounds like you have quite a bit of anxiety. About 2 months ago is when it really kicked in for me. My mind would race & race about bills, the baby, what I had to get done the next day- WHATEVER. It didn't matter. Seriously, sounds like anxiety. Therapy may not be necessary.

I think therapy is the best start bro, I have started back - if I can get a bed I'll be going away for a lil just to get my head straight - just keep yourself in the forefront - it's not worth living w/shit that haunts you. Best of luck my dude.

agreed. no alcohol at all either. even 1 glass of red whine. who knows, may have some weird effect on your body. for 1 week take no supplement at all, no drinks other then water. no tea, no diet soda etc..

its worth a try.

All I have to add is that if the therapist does prescribe you something and you think there is some truth to getting that RX, don't act like a tough guy. Give it a try. You can stop anytime. If your body is chemically imbalanced than you are imbalanced. You are ok to take meds to help your body when you need them, so why not your mind?

I think therapy is a great "first step" option - as opposed to drugs.

Most of these caffeine drinks also have all kinds of other stuff in them - ginseng, etc. etc. Many of these chemicals have significant effects on your BP, heart rate, etc. Any of these could be messing wtih your sleep cycles. I'm with Bouncer on this one.....

Why bother trying to help man. He posts these threads already having all the answers to everything. It's no the caffeine, it's not the tren, it's not the alcohol, he doesn't need pills.....blah, blah, blah......

My initial thought when reading this was that he was only doing it for someone else just so he can say he tried and it didn't worked...

To be honest I was always under the impression that everyone who could afford it had a therapist in the US, like it was a cool thing to do. I always thought that was a good think whereas over here in the UK people would be a lil embarrassed to say it.

I don't see anything wrong with seeing a therapist, many people at least use life coaches so I say great but yeah get any shit out of your system first.

If you only have (1) can of an energy drink how could you be so 'addicted' to caffeine that you are having headaches and 'withdrawal' symptoms?

You have to be one of the most people I know.

Everyone is different....Not having any caffeine for 2-3 days, is bound for anyone to have a headache In the past when I've said I can tolerate high doses of caffeine and clen, doesn't take away from the fact that if I don't have any of it. I'm not going to have some sort of withdrawal...

I'm having no stimulants....No my wine and beer....So....

Seeing a therapist is ok. ive seen them on and off ,different ones, you need one you can feel comfortable with its just a way off unloadingy our mind , however you are always on the go , you need quality time for yourself at least half hour a day, for me meditation is excellent solves all your problems, stops your mind racing, you become how you should be with following the breath. check out guided meditations on you tube. take yourself away some were silent and listen, you need that time. its been a while since your original post how are things? cheers
