Intercourse soreness question for the girls...
I have a question. When you all have vaginal intercouse, do you feel sore in that area for a couple days after? Lately, I've been sore for about 2 days afterwards. I feel like it's like a bruised feeling. Any suggestions?
(It's also not from hubby being rough or anything... to me he doesn't seem rough...) |

I just did some searching and it looks like I could have "atrophic vaginitis" which is caused by low levels of estrogen, which would also explain why it's always been really easy for me to gain muscle.

My wife and I have looked into this.
Usually lubircation is the problem. This can be caused by any number of things, the biggest being hormonal, as you stated. This should be something you talk to your OB about. They could do some tests if it is that big of a problem and figure out what's going on. My wife and I never have sex two days in a row. Trust me, nip this in the bud ASAP. I feel bad seeing her deal with it. We were only able to solve part of the problem with extra pube, the rest is, well, a "snug fit". |

Dreamgirl - do you have a regular menstruation cycle? I am super irregular and my GP also believes that I have low levels of estrogen. She even did a progesterone challenge test to try and kickstart my periods but it didn't work. She's always on my case to be using birth control, mainly for the estrogen, but with competing I keep avoiding it. I know that my low body fat around competition time can contribute as well (athletic ammenorhea). I sometimes notice soreness as you have described too.

Dreamgirl,
Sounds very painful, it has not happen to me yet. What i do encounter that during intercourse i get dry really quick, and i dont understand why, it never used to be this way but since i started then stopped taking the pill. My hormones have been all out of wack. |

I have this every time. Frequency gets to be an issue because I have to chill to let it 'heal'
My estrogen level has never been an issue. I think doctors love throwing BC pills and female hormones down our throats for every thing: acne, mood swings, pussy pain, headaches, etc.... Its disturbing to me. |

I always thought that estrogen was the culprit of why women carry so much bodyfat and why we have more bodyfat then men. am I wrong?
This would be a factor in how cut a women could look, no? let me know shibby... |

My Dr. just said to try using lube, or if I wanted he would do blood tests to see if I was low estrogen, then if I was he said he could give me estrogen pills or patch which i said don't even do because I don't want them... so lube it is... |

Testosterone levels in women are what is needed to build and maintain muscle. This is the reason why it is in fact much more difficult for women to build muscle because they simply do not produce nearly the amount that men do....which is a resounding factor as to why women take AAS..
In addition, hormones for women can be beneficial. For post and pre- menopausal they can be very helpful with hot flashes, mood swings, etc. I took HRT when I was having to take Depot Lupron for endometriosis. Quite frankly, I couldn't have gotten through the therapy without it. BC pills do help with acne and cramping, and obviously preventing births in general. Some women DO get very bad side effects during their menstrual cycles and these hormones help relieve a lot.

Estrogen levels are a factor in muscle gain because of fat retention caused by estrogen. "Male" hormones are altered in fatty tissues - so having more fat reduces the amount of active testosterone in the bloodstream.
Maybe someone with a medical background could explain it better. |

Yes- I'd like some clarification on this as well.
Estrogen is what gives women a higher BF. Fat retention is related to this. However, just because you may have a lot of BF does not necessarily you'd have a harder time building muscle. We're getting off topic here, though

Ok y'all are both on the right track of sorts. As far as fat retention, estrogen really has little play with that, it's the other hormones in the cycle that retain the fat. Estrogen is more of the where the Fat will go, not how much fat stays there. You're body will burn it regardless, it's just that estrogen says "we might have a kid ANY time now so we're putting the thighs and butt towards the bottom of the list of places to take from". Estrogen is a chemical notifier. A good example of this idea is Oxytocin women do not produce oxytocin until the moment of child birth. Oxytocin is released into the body and more is produced, this chemical messenger of sorts is the chemical that initializes child birth and is among the chemicals that softens the childs bones in order to go through live birth. It then notifies the mammary glands to begin milk production.
So, Estrogen's play in all of the Muscle building area is basically that it doesn't help maintain or build muscle HOWEVER, ladies build lean muscle better than men, because their muscle is always in a state of being broken down depending on hormone levels because of the lack of testosterone for maintenance. Example girl works out for a year and then goes down to basic cardio or less. Her muscle gains and more will be gone inside of 6-8 months. A guy does the same and bc his Test levels are what is maintaining the muscle, he might only lose 10-15% in the time period that the girl loses hers. If you have low level of Estrogen, the muscle isn't broken down as fast but it will happen unless it is maintained. As far as guys, the reason why estrogen is produced in AAS users (we should all know) is bc of the influx of TEST Basically high amts of one hormone cause the system to back up and adapt or change and stop. Basically if you are tipping the scales one way your body says not today effer I like where I was. It's in your genes, you really can't change it much outside of diet and exercise, but even then blood tests compensate for these buffer zones. As far as the "V region" try the lube, if it doesn't help and it is hormones (since you don't want to take any it really doesn't matter) you might want to look into it. I will say this though, how did your Mom deal with Menopause? Is your cycle like your Mom's? If so, the way her body deals with things will 9 times out of 10 be the way yours does. If not, play it by ear, I just know women with low levels get hit hard by Menopause bc levels are low to begin with that it kinda kicks 'em when hot flashes happen. I know a friend's Mom who would have them at work when she was a grocery store manager and she'd walk into the back into the deep freezer for meat in her work clothes and stay there until it passed. She said it was the only thing she could do without "popping doc candy" (yes her words) that helped her get through it. We always knew when she was going through it bc she'd turn the AC in the car to freezing and still be sweating bullets. Anyway kinda got off track on some areas but I hope it all helps! -Pheonix782 |
