32 year old male, 5-3, 190 pounds. Started to work out 3 to 5 times a week.I just started on the health tip after being frustrated with my personal self. I went to the local GNC and was given two supplements to help me get started on weight loss and muscle gain. The guy at the counter wasnt the smartest guy in the world so i figured let me get some outside feedback. He told me to take the following two supplements at the same time:
Hydroxycut Hardcore - 1 pill once a day (in the morning) ![]() Excellean CLA 1000 - 1 pill once a day (in the morning) ![]() Let me know what you think about the combo and the dosage. ![]() Thanks |

Welcome to the forum PMNYC.
First and foremost the most important part of losing fat and getting in shape is diet and training. Supplements come second. If you need help with a diet and training program don't be afraid to ask. As far as your question, Hydroxycut seems to have a lot of positive feedback. I dont know much about Excellean CLA so I wont comment on that. One thing I will say though, GNC is about the worst place you could buy your supplements. Way over priced. Check out www.allsportsnutrition.com or www.allthewhey.com |

First off welcome to SuperiorMuscle. Lot of good people here with a lot of valuable knowledge. Glad to hear you are dedicating yourself to improving your body. Itll really improve the way you look and more important the way you feel.
As far as the supplements, Bouncer is right about GNC. Very overpriced supplements and they aren't any better than supplements you could get from the site sponsors. I think the guy at the GNC store was either taking advantage of you or wasn't very smart. As someone just starting out I'd just recommend a low fat whey protein supplement to support your lifting. I always get my protein shakes from Allthewhey.com. Fair prices, quality product and it tastes great. As far as the diet pills you were recommended, id hold off on taking them until you have cleaned up your diet for a while and feel you are plataeuing. Have you opened them yet? You could always take em back. Oh and I also forgot to mention that another supplement that is vital is a daily MultiVitamin. Just not grocery store brands like Centrum.
