It differs from person to person, but normally it takes about 8 weeks to see any noticable difference, you may have gain in strength before that time but as far as muscle definition it's about 8 maybe 10 weeks, but don't expect a huge difference.
Like blue devil said patience is the key nothing comes easy man. Don't be discouraged though just keep yourslef motivated and sets minor goals and slowly as time passes you will start to see the results your looking for. |

Keep yourself motivated. Only compete with yourself. Everyone had to start somewhere. And remember the number one rule. "Check your ego at the door". If you don't do it right (form and technique) with the appropriate weight your wasting your time.

If you're eating ALOT of food, the first gain you should see is your weight increase within days. If you're overweight, and trying to lose weight, make sure you take in the right amount of calories, not too much or too little, and cardio a few times a week and you should see your weight drop within a week or two.
That said. Keep track of your weight, body measurements, body fat % weekly if possible, and watch your diet and calories at all times. I've taken a polaroid once a month for the first 2 months: In the first one I weighed 154 lbs (week 0), in the 3rd picture I weight 166 lbs (week 8), but if you look at the pictures you can't see a difference whatsoever. I now weigh 174 lbs and you still can't see much of a difference. BUTTTT, if you take my measurements they've all gone up. SO, you might not SEE the difference, but if you're working your ass off 4-5 days a week at the gym, and getting the right diet, there's bound to be a difference you just can't see yet. And if your bodyfat% is high, it will take even longer to see results, because they'll hide under your fat. Sorry for the long post. |

I didn't see a difference in the mirror until about the 3rd or 4th month when I started. But just because you can't see it doesn't mean changes aren't happening. Also, if you're looking every day you won't notice the changes very much. Take some pictures every couple of months. By the time the year is over you'll see some really nice improvements!
