I have to say I love them already. First let me give you a litte run down about myself. I've been working out since i was 15yrs old. And i'm 25yrs old now. Well i've never did deadlifts cause i always thought thats for football players or powerlifters. Well i'm wanting to gain overall strength. I've always had a weak upper body but strong lower body. Hell when i was 18yrs old @ 180lbs. I could squat 315lbs. Now I do 425lbs. It would be more but i took 2 yrs off from leg training. Anyways i'm 25 yrs old weighing 205lbs right now. I got an expert in the deadlift area to help me. He deadlifts 600lbs+ And after i was warming up then i threw on 225lbs for 3 sets of 10reps. Then after that i did 275lbs for 8 reps. Then the next set it was 275lbs for 6 reps. Everyone told me that was good for only being my 1st time. I didn't want to goto heavy cause i want perfect form. But here's the kicker. They felt so natural to me. Just like squats. I'm genitically inclined in my lower body. Squats have always been easy for me. And i believe the deadlifts are going to be another great lift for me. Actually the only 2 things i'm strong in is Back and Legs. So hell i should've thought of deadlifting a long time ago. Cause i know my deads will be rocketing this winter.
Sorry, I just had to share my enthusasium. |

I remember when I first started doing them. Felt great. Then I hurt my back. Put me out for a couple weeks. Since I don't care to compete, it's not worth the risk for me. But good luck to you and hope everything goes well for you.

Well (knock on wood) I don't ever hurt my back. But i always hear of people saying squats will hurt your knee's. But yet i've never had a problem with my knee's no matter how much i squat. Its all about form mostly. I've had great form in squats since day one. I believe i can master the form in deadlifts also. But i won't ever max on deads since i'm not a powerlifter. So that'll help out not hurting my back also.
