I know alot of them have different features. Some simply tell your heart rate. Others will go as far as remeber your last workout to review before exercises, watch features, estimate calories burned, and test body fat %.

bonebreaker is on a distinguished road
The best ones, IMO, are made by Polar. You can get a good one without all the "bells and whistles" for about $75. One good thing about Polar is that the transmitters work with most all exercise equipment, "Lifecycle" stuff especially. Also, when the batteries go dead you can change most of them yourself. I have one that allows high and low levels so it will beep if you go above or below, has a timer function, alarm function, and a few other things I don't and never will use. Basically I use it for heart rate and upper and lower level monitoring so I don't go too high, or too low. Their tough too, I hit the heavy bag hard and frequently, and the watch part has never failed in three years. BB

My wife has one of the Polar ones, it was around $200 and does more crap than we've figured out yet. Seems good to figure BMR and taget HR. Other than that they seem like a big pain in the ass with the chest strap and all but she likes it.
