postwork out protein

Hey Im jobless right now. Without money ehehe. Was just wondering is it possible to just eat some protein after a work out then having to buy those shakes or powder stuff n whey and all that? Is it possible to eat like an egg white or 2 with some tuna ? after a work out and see results or will u see better with taking those supplements etc im confused... i dont have extra money to throw around right now unless u can tell me of any cheap supplements thx. If not what other then tuna or egg whites can eat thats not fattening after a workout. Also how do u benfit from protein b4 lifting like in the morning or at lunch? if your lifting after dinner time etc?

Thx~

Scrumhalf will become famous soon enough
Eat carbs for energy before and during lifting (e.g gatorade) for energy. Eat protein immediately after lifting so that it can get to work - best to use whey protein in water as it is absorbed the fastest. Get the big 5lb tub of whey protein from Costco - costs only about $19 which is about as cheap as you can find protein powder - the chocolate version tastes pretty good.

while I prefer real food to supplements, supplements are cheaper per gram of protein. but honestly I would say just eat real food and you will grow just fine.

If you don't have enough money for whey, eat tins of tuna, this is what i sometimes do when I run out of whey or can't afford it. Each tin has 35-40g protein, perfect amount if your training naturally.

Yeah I agree, I get my protein from my diet not from supplementation and It seems to be working just fine. Just look for some high protein foods for after your workout

I ate 3 cans of tuna a day for a solid year. Just the thought of it makes the puke start to come up.

Eat anything with protein, all the time. Give yourself 1-2 hours between meals. SUPPLEMENTS should SUPPLEMENT your diet. Never rely on protein powders/bars for main source of protein. Those should be SUPPLEMENTAL. You need food. REAL FOOD. Tuna, chicken, steak, fish, etc. If you have money left over after buying the right foods, then buy supplements. But for now, STOCK UP ON MEAT!!

Post-workout protein should be a fast usable protein... so a protein shake consisting of at least 50gm will do the trick.
