Heavy Lifting support

I've recently started having more knee and lower back pain from lower body workouts - mostly squats and deadlifts. I've never used any wraps or supports besides wrist wraps, but I think they may help now.

anybody have any experience or advice on using these-and if so, what kind of supports (brands and/or materials)?

Thanks.

are you in it for a professional sport or competition? if the answer is no then I would say back off on your training and use better form and higher reps and less weight.

i agree with stone cold, a knee brace might help, but most likely your going too heavy and your form is suffering for it, causing these pains. form, form, form! worry about adding more weight only when you can do it and maintain perfect form

Point well taken. I know I get some lateral knee motion when I get really heavy. I try to follow the rule that you only go as heavy as you can while maintaining form, but you know how it is--it always feels good to throw more weight on!

I guess I'll go back to doing what I know I should be doing! Thanks for the reminder!

bonebreaker is on a distinguished road
Yeah, What the previous posts said. Plus, If you wrap your knees, for example, you have to get the wraps very tight to get any help at all, and you can't just leave them on between sets. Say your doing 5 sets of squats, if they're tight enough to help, you have to remove between each set so circulation isn't compromised. What a waste of time, and DANGEROUS. Many powerlifters use knee wraps because of the tremendous weights they lift, but you won't see them wrapping up and just stand around until it's their turn. BB
