Shoulder Injury

I have recently had a shoulder injury playing football my arm was twisted back and injured. Although I didnt feel the injury till later that night. Its been 2 weeks since the injury. I have had x-rays done but haven't had the results back yet. I cant bench, curl, or do most of the exercises with weight in the gym. Does anyone know of a supplement or a exercise to better strengthen the shoulder or to speed up the healing process? It feels like it may be in the shoulder joint area.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate will speed up healing of cartilage but it still takes months.

If there is any repairable damage to tendons or the rotator cuff get that done ASAP. If they give you cortio-steroids get off them as soon as possible.

Come to think of it, you should have had an MRI, not an X-ray.

Thanks for the info Gort. The x-ray came back last night as negative. So the Doc said it must be a torn muscle. He prescribed Ibuprofin 800 for the inflammation. And will get the MRI done tomorrow. Thanks again for the info.

I wouldn't worry about weights if I were you. Have you seen a physical therapist yet?

If I were you, I'd request an MRI from a good Ortho guy. You could have really screwed something up. No sense taking chances, get a thorough check up for the shoulder. X-rays won't tell you anything except there is no broken bones. BB

No, wolf I haven't seen a physical therapist. Come to think of it. I dont really think my doctor cares too much. He was just glad that I didnt break anything. And sent me on my way with some pain killers. He didnt say anything about an MRI until I told him I thought getting one would be best. And I hear you BoneBreaker, I'll definately make sure they do a complete check-up on the shoulder. Thanks.....
