Is it possible to overtrain if
Is it possible to overtrain if I am only working each muscle once a week. Eating well over 240 grams of protein a day (I'm 185 lbs) and getting 10 hours of sleep a night?
I don't feel strung out or anything, I'm just genuinely curious if it's possible. |

yes overtraining comes in two forms, local and general. even though a specific muscle group my recover your body in general reacts the same to a stressor. so even if you worked one muscle group a week then it still counts as a stressor to your overall body even though you are tapping much local reserves. you can just do a search on GAS in this section and you can read more of what I have written.

After a certain amount of sets in training a bodypart, you will reach a point of diminishing returns.
It`s up to you to try and figure out how many sets per bodypart you will respond to by experimenting with different combos of sets and reps. Basically you should get in and out of the gym in 45-60 minutes roughly......if you are in much longer than this, you are dogging it.

eating only 240 grams of protein a day at 185 will make you overtrained! haha j/k
seriously though, you should be eating atleast 370 a day in protein. not to mention carbs and fat. I'm 190 and i eat 400 grams a day when training hard. |

nutrition has nothing to do with staving off overtraining, nutrition is used to build new tissue and replace what is lost. but OT is a chemical condition that even if you are in top nutritional form can still happen.

thats true, but i'll tell you what. try and not have your diet right and workout for a month a tell me if your not ready for a break.
by the way, nutrition plays a lot bigger role in causing overtraining for nattys. |

stonecold, i totally agree with you. it doesn't matter how right everything is going you still need a break from time to time so you dont get overtrained.
