My Gym

so, over the past year I've finally put together what I consider to be an adequate gym for working out at home. I'm gonna try to attach some images (first time posting images!). Anyway, below is a list of most of what I have. I would appreciate any suggestions on any crucial equipment I'm missing so I can get it and finally be done putting together this gym!

Cable x-over with 225# stacks on each side (lots of handles on the board at the end for this-see pic2)
VKR – mostly use it for ab workouts and weighted dips
Dumbells – 5-100lbs in 5lb increments
Smith machine with both smith and free bars on it
Leg press/hack squat machine
Leg curl/extension machine
45degree back extension – I use it for lower back and oblique workouts
480# of plate weights
Olympic straight and curl bars
55, 65cm swiss balls
4,6,8,10, 12# medicine balls and other miscellaneous core training aids
True 550HRC treadmill
VisionFitness R2200HRT recumbent bike
Keys FID bench with preacher curl attachment
Stereo system and TV!!

I think that's it.

I think the lifting part (everything minus the treadmill and bike) was about 6K US. The treadmill and bike was about 5K. In the long, run I think it will be worth it. Everything (except treadmill and bike) has a lifetime warranty, so if I maintain it well I should be set for awhile.

That's pretty badass. All you need now is a window looking into the girls aerobic room. LOL

So, by the responses does that mean nobody can think of anything to realistically add? No, the female aerobic room is not an option-but my new neighbor that this window will look across to their basement is hot! Maybe she'll workout in her basement too--or I can invite her over to mine.

Yeah, it's pretty nice working out in barefeet, no shirt on, play my own music, free to grunt and do anything I want.

Reminds me of mike Katz from pumping iron's place!!

When he is doing standing dumbell shoulder press!

Very nice bro and I think they'le be less distractions, your less inclined to get distracted or caught up in stupid ego workouts, you can conentrate on form and listen to you own music.

Cool

Sweet set up, I dont seem to work out at howe though, always too many distractions for me. It would be nice if I could do it though. Good luck and watch those toes man, could be a nasty ouch if you dropped a plate on a barefoot.

That is a sweet setup, I wish I had the room for all that....

Where did you pruchase most of it? I see you live in MN. Where is the best place to pick like the Corssover up at? Second Wind or where?
Do you have any low pulley row or T-bar row in there?

Actually I kinda do machine incline fly lifts by putting the FID bench at a slight incline in the cable cross-over and doing flyes there. You can do incline, decline, or flat machine flyes that way. I have found I like that better than free weight flyes cause you get constant tension on the muscle all the way to the top.

I kinda figured you'd want a pullover but I just have to do those with free weights.

Actually, mirrors are the next thing-especially in front of the smith machine. Really need them for squats. You can't see the sound system but it's good enough to rock the basement. Actually, i'm putting in a 10K sound system upstairs that I'm gonna pipe down into some new speakers in the basement-that'll rock my basement and the neighbors!

I'm gonna finish the rest of the basement now, so I think I'm gonna wish I had more room cause that's where my entertainment center (big screen TV w/ sound system) and game tables and bar were supposed to go.

I got a pretty good deal on all my stuff at Push, Pedal, Pull in Edina. I have a close grip and a T-bar handle that I use to do low and high rows on the cable xover unit. The cable xover I got is a new Power System unit from Keys. It has a bunch of heights you can lock the handle at. I shopped around a little for it. Second Wind also carries some pretty good ones. If you want to know the places and prices, PM me and I can tell you the places and prices I got quoted.

That's the problem with all this stuff. I think when I move, I'm just gonna leave it. There's no way I'd want to have to move all that weight. It comes with the house to whoever buys it. I'll just start over at my next place!

Yeah I would of took all of it but I moved from a house to a condo, so I was a bit limited in what I could take. Basically just brought my db's and a bench. Kinda sucked cause I really didn't get much money for any of the stuff. Luckily there is a Rec center a half block from the new place though

who makes that hack-squat machine? i'm guessing "life-fitness" or something like that. i can't remember but i think i've seen that label before. it's looks to be of perfect size to fit in my garage.

It's a Keys Power System. All their Power System stuff is guaranteed for life, so I only buy that line of Keys. It's great for leg press, hack squat and calves at home.
