Neck Exercises

Can anyone recommend any good exercises to build up muscle on the neck area. I want one of those really thick set necks, the kind that looks like you've swallowed a dinner plate, where it bulges at the sides. Traps are sorted, got my routine for them, just want the neck to go with them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Mick.

I use the head gear strap with a chain to do front and back... for the sides I lay down and use a towel and put a dumbbell there and have some one hold it and so that area. DO NOT do any neck rotation with weight. and be careful its a sensitive area.

Good advise. You do have to be EXTREMELY careful because your neck is really the top of your spine. Nerves run through your neck from your brain stem to all of your vital organs so it's important that the vertebra in your neck are aligned properly.

If you have a hamstrings machine, you can lie the opposite way and on your front, put your hands on the floor and the back of your head where your calves would normally go, then just lift your head backwards
