Should I do deads on leg or back day?
Right now as of two weeks ago i switched up my routine
right now its chest/biceps legs/shoulders back/triceps a day rest in between each i've been doing squats and good mornings on leg days (i just started doing squats again after about a year off...)...also 2 sets each of ham curls and leg extensions, lunges, and calf raises......i was doing leg presses before i switched the routine up every other workout just wanna get the opinion on where to stick deads in, my last routine i was working back/legs/biceps same day so i didn't have to decide should i do stiff or regular deads more regularly? ... i also recently read not to go heavy every single time you do deads, should i abide by that? |

What are you doing deads for? That should give you your answer right there.
I don't know how you ever got a good workout for every muscle when you did, legs, back and bis. There's no way your body can store enough energy for all three. If you are training your whole legs together then you should designate a day for it on it's own, since it's such a large amount of muscle. |

I would try splitting up hams and quads--I think you'll really like it a lot better. You could probably do hams and shoulders and then do quads on their own day. I'm usually too exhausted after really good squats to do another muscle group anyway. Right now, I'm doing deads with my hams as the first lift of the day. I think it'll work on either day but I like it on hammy day more than back so I can save more energy for the rest of my back.

your split actually almost sounds like my workout, for which I use the powerlifting workout from Muscle and Fitness two months ago, the one with Chris Cook on the cover...basically, bench press (chest and triceps) on one day, squat (legs -- squat, leg press, calves) on another day, and deadlifts (wide- and narrow-stance, RDL, lat pulldowns, and curls) on a third day. So, I do deadlifts on back days, for your answer, but again, depends on what you're doing deadlifts for

I do bent legged deads on back day and stiff legged on hammy day.

A powerlifting deadlift is not at all close to stiff legged.
