Training my 15 year old brother in law
I did a search but didn't come up with anything.
Right now I am teaching him the basics of lifting and making sure he has correct form in all of his lifts. So far he is doing pretty good at not wanting to jump into the heavy weights. My only problem is that he can only train for 4 days a week and I do a five day split. Any of you guys know of a good split to do that will still help me reach my goals, yet stay simple enough to keep him from becoming overwhelmed? Thanks.

No reason at all to take a beginner over 3 days per week for strength and mass building. 4 days would absolutely be tops. 5 days per week would kill him IMO.

Why don't you just train how you normally do and when he's there to train you could try a schedule like this one for him...Cutlers Beginner Program just an idea, good luck

If you were looking for a mass building routine that you both could do, try an upper/lower body split, or simply design a routine based off of the 3 big lifts. If you need to add a little volume, then go for it, but I think if you were going for mass, 3 days would be good, even for an advanced lifter. Besides, you could always add a 4th day for auxillary muscles for yourself. Two good routines from both of these concepts...
Day 1 Flat/incline Bench Military press Dips (add your extra exercise here) Day 2 Squat Leg curls Weighted abs Calf raises Day 3 Deadlifts Pullups BB curls (add your extra exercise here) Other option Day 1 Flat bench BB rows Military press Skull crushers Day 2 Squats Deads Calfs Abs Day 3 Incline bench Pullups Laterals BB curls |

Only thing I disagree with Shortz routine is the Deads. He really needs to learn how important form is before adding and advanced lift like this. It can hurt you so bad so easy. The squats are iffy, make sure you are always there and nit pick his form when doing it.

If no deads then have him do t-bar rows or bent over rows.
