Weighted Dips

What do you think weighted dips work the most? I know you can kind of rotate yourself forward and hit your upper chest a little, but for the most part, what do they develop besides triceps? I've been getting a heck of a pump after straping 2 (45's) to the belt and pushing out ten of those. I got badgered last week by a mexican who said I wasn't doing them right, so I make sure to go down as far as my shoulders will allow. I weigh around 220-225, so I'm pushing around 310#. Opinions welcome.

they hurt my elbows but when they don't hurt it seems that dips get my shoulders, chest and tris all in the same time. I tried reverse dips...hands on a bench behind my back with dumbbell on my lap and it doesn't hurt my elbows and seems to isolate my tris. I don't know what dips really isolate because they really don't help me but i'm sure they help somewhere! I wouldn't go farther than elbows 90 degrees though...

Dips involve about 10 different muscles but they are usually intended to target the chest, anterior delts and triceps (elbow, arm and body position typically determine the major muscle group targeted).

Pretty much the same as decline bench. Weighted dips are probably my favorite "push" exercise...

as far as muscles being involved, ur hitting ur pecs, tris and anterior delts. keeping ur form strict is important bc u dont want to put any extra pressure on ur rotator cuff. as far as form, i wouldnt break 90.

i dont do weighted dips, i just do regular dips. reason being, cutler does regular dips on his new DVD for his tricep and chest day in the middle of his workout. so i follow that thinking maybe i will get better shape or break down my muscle bellys better if i dont do weight and push more reps.
