Question Why is that....

When you're dieting, you tend to lose the most fat around your upper body...yet the lower body holds the more water/fat?

I always notice this when I see comps or pics from comps on how guys come in soft on the legs...Right now my upper body is leaner, my mid section and lower section tends to hold more fat/water. :hmmm: :hmmm:

I would assume it has something to do with cortisol.

A lot of it is genetics - I hear people say they hold water in the backs etc even after their legs come in - I'm completely different - my back gets shredded compared to my legs...

(Damn - did I just respond to a Rado thread - wtf)....

none of the above.

in short, it has to do with evolution and survival. the body wants to store fat in abs, lower-back and hips (men) thighs (women) first because these areas are much more sensitive to insulin, less sensitive to catecholamines, and less visceral (meaning these areas get poor supply of blood and oxygen). The end result is less chance of mobilizing the fatty acids. other areas of the body are quiet viceral and come off rather quickly. i dont feel like writting any more...

by lower half do you mean legs alone ? my legs are the first thing to get hard - my midsection in the pain in the ass -

now in comp pics i can understand why they [legs] would look soft as compared to the upper half - you dont pump them up as it will smooth them out
