I can't high rep anymore lol!
So following a week off to let a lower back injury heal I trained legs today and swore I wouldn't let my ego get the better of me. I started with leg extensions and then when I moved to hack squat I kept it to s pathetic two plates a side, well third set and 15 reps in and my thighs just go, I go back down with the sled and am stuck there, had to shuffle step my heels to the side to spill out the machine. Failed on two plates a side lol!
I would normally work up to 4-5 plates a side on a heavy day and I think my body has just adjusted to relatively low reps |

Yes That same thing happened to me. I am always getting stuck at 12 reps
its actually funny I can grab almost any weight and get burnt at 12. It took me a long time to try and break it, I still have not fully got past it but working on it. I can strap on a 45lber and do dips get 12 take off the weight and only get 12 put the weight back on and still get 12. fucking funny to me. |

The mind is a powerful thing; try not to count reps in your head.

Every five reps or when I get to tenth rep I go back to counting from one again, it works great. Like konitz said...it's all in your head.

I agree. When I plateu sometimes, I'll use the same weight but use only smaller plates rather than 45lb plates. It looks lighter with the small plates. Usually helps me bang out an extra rep or two

Watched a show about a guy that had a 1000 pound boulder roll on top of him and he bench pressed it off; tore every muscle in his chest but since his body was in a state of trauma it allowed him to use everything it had and he went full tilt. |

It's not just in your head. You train your body to respond a certain way, that's what it learns. We are animals by nature and our instincts are to conserve energy. You have to train your body to do different things. Weather it's a different movement or a completely different function. Genetics will dictate how easily you adapt. It's the same concept of changing your routine a bit to shock your muscles. Your body wants homeostasis. You need to teach your body/mind everything and if you don't keep it fresh it gets rusty...
