Breast Implants (for the Wife of course)
Ladies,
I need a favor...Especially the ladies that have had implants. My wife is getting ready to get her's done and doesn't know whether to go under the breast or through the nipple? What is your opinions on this? A little back ground about her is, she is 24 with a fairly small chest. She is around 5' 5", around 110-115 lbs. She is considering a full C-cup or a small D. She hasn't decided that either. Thanks, Playthegame |

I went under the muscle for a few reasons. One important one is that to ensure clear mamograms in the future, going under the muscle will provide a much better picture. Going over the muscle you can not have traditional mamograms, instead a woman has to use ultrasound which isn't nearly as effective in diagnosing early stage cancer. Another reason I went under the muscle is to help prevent sagging of the breast as I get older. I had a lift and implants done at the same time and I don't want to have to worry about having another lift down the road. Another reason I prefer unders is that the bagd should not be visible at all (with complete unders this is the case, there are partial unders which are common but the bags can be seen from the underside). Often if a woman has small breasts to start out with, the ridges along the sides of the implants can be visible if they go over the muscle unless they are overfilled which can make them hard to the touch. There are exceptiond, a friend of mine has overs but hers look and feel completely natural. If she trains she may not like going with unders though. They will contort as she's lifting and feel very weird. Capsular contracture is more common with over the muscle implants than with unders and surgery is the only way to fix it. If she plans on having children and breastfeeding them then unders should not cause problems, but often over the muscle implants will not allow women to nurse. Recovery from under the muscle implants is much tougher than overs and she will need someone around for the first few days. I'm pretty tollerant to pain but for the first few days I couldn't even get the top off of my pill container without being in agony. I'm pretty sure a special undergarment needs to be worn for a few weeks post-op with overs. I only had to wear a sports bra for 2 months post-op once the bandages were removed.
Here's a good link that describes some of the pro's and con's of going over/partially under/completely under: http://www.advanced-art.com/Breast-Aug-Over-Under.htm Here are some more sites to check out: http://www.allaboutplasticsurgery.com/ http://www.justbreastimplants.com/ http://www.implantinfo.com/ http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public...ammoplasty.cfm http://www.floridacosmeticsurg.com/a...breastaug.html One good way to determine what size to go with is to try wearing a bra of a certain size, stuffed. When she finds the size she thinks she likes, bring it in to the doctors office and then stuff it with the implants until she gets the right one to fill the cup to where she wants to be. I did this and took pictures from the front and side to determine what size I wanted to be. I used old bras that were too big for me and actually went with one of the smaller ones after seeing the pictures. There are risks with all surgeries and this isn't an exception. Although I'm still verry happy I had mine done, I've had complications with infection since my surgery in April last year and I'm going in for a re-do right after Vallentine's day. I was on repeated courses of antibiotics for 6 months post-op because my body rejected the sutures and they got infected. I also had a staph infection in the left breast which is pretty common in hospitals. I've been clear for the past 2 months but just this week they're a little infected again. It's been very frustrating! To top it off, the left implant didn't drop as well as the right, probably from the staph infection causing some capsular contracture, so the doctor has to cut into the muscle again to fix this as well as go over all of the other incision areas to remove what's causing the infection and get rid of scaring. Good luck to your wife! Let us know how it all goes.

i agree... the scar under the breast is pretty ugly.. the one through the nipple is barely noticible..
see if your doctor knows how to go through the belly button. I dont think too many doctors do it this way, but it is supposidly the best way to go, alteast from scaring stand point. |

I misunderstood the original post and thought it was a question of over or under the muscle.
Going through the nipple will leave a much nicer look than having a scar under the breast. It will be hardly noticible if at all. She may have different sensation in the nipple after surgery, either more or less sensitive than before, but most of the time women are fine with it.

My wife has hers done over the muscle and through the nipple. (the friend puddles was talking about).
You can hadly tell there is a scar, they feel and look great. I can ffel the implant but only because I know what I'm feeling for. Others have said they can't feel it at all. Hers look very natural. They fall like real tits do when she lays on her back and they most like real onses do. I've seen many jobs that look and feel like 2 melons have been glued on and hers are nothing like that. As for the incision placement. I realy like the nipple. it is hardly noticable and the under the breast one can be. she did have some numbness but her feeling is almost back to what it was. the only time it bothers her is if I bit it right on the scar. A friend of ours had her done under the brest and the scar is not noticable unless you in a position to see under the brest fold. But she does say that under wire bras bother her scar alot and ever non underwire bras cause her some discomfort. One other thing. if there is ever a problem a surgen can not go back through the old insion with the under arm or belly button. they will have to go in through the nipple or under the breast. so this will mean another scar. Since implant may need to replaced some day anyway why bother with 2 scars if they can go through the same twice. I'll have me wife reply to this also if I missed anything.

Jarhead, what size was Betty before and what size implants did she get? I assume they're round...are they smooth or textured? Were they overfilled?
She has the most perfect boob job I've seen, they look and feel natural only better. I'm so jealous! :p

I know hers are round and I think they are smooth. I'll have her get her on here and verify. She has 420cc implants overfilled. They really strecher her out to the limit. Her doc said the only way way she could have them any bigger is to wait for them to settle and then have them redone. He had no more room. She is now a D if she pushes them in to a C they end up poping out when she moves. Her doc was great. That is real important. He was a real nice guy which made her very comfortable with him. He even called us at home the NIGHT after the sugery to make sure she was ok and to see if I had any questions while taking care of her. We just went in for her 1 year check up a few weeks ago and he took time to see how we were doing with work and life in general befor he even started the check up.

The_jarhead was right about what I had done, I didn't want to go through the nipple at first but now I am glad I did. I love my new breasts. Best money ever spent.

Hello, to me a D on her would be way too big. From what you say she seems small boned and tiny, D's might look really odd. I would go with a C at the most. Just my opinion.

Hi - I've had mine done twice (34B to 34C to 34DD)- I suggest under the muscle, since she is thin - You do not want to increase the chance of ripples in the skin from the implants. However, I had mine done through a scarless procedure in NYC, in which the implant is placed through the bellybutton - Recovery for me was a couple of days and I had a band aid on my belly button from the surgery - The 2nd time around, I decided to go bigger and my old implants were removed through the belly button as well and replaced with the new ones. I never lost any sensation or anything with this procedure. It is called "transumbilical breast augmentation" - A few of my friends had the through the armpit procedure and they were in so much pain for weeks and some lost feeling in their breasts - Have her check out this website: http://www.transumbilicalbreastaugmentation.com/
As for size, that is something she has to decide on her own. When I 1st had them done, I wanted to go bigger, but everyone talked me out of it and I ended up going back a year later and getting the size I originally wanted. Hope that helps!!! |

implants
I had through the nipple implants. Hardly notiice any scar unless you look very close. Had a great surgeon. Only problem if it can be called a problem, is that my nipples are permanently erect. A result of nerve trauma or something along those lines he told me on a checkup visit. I get a few stares from the guys when at the beach. Not that it's a bad thing.

Wouldn't going through the armpit and under the musle be safer than going through the nipple? I figured going through the nipple is taking more chances of losing all sensation for good?
And if going under the muscle and doing under the armpit or through the nipple will they still look the same since they're both going under the muscle. Or since the different way of going in will change the look even though they're both going under the muscle? |
