Advice for a friend
Ok your all thinking sure heres the proverbial "friend" thing again. But since I make no secrets about being on the program, the advice I seek truly is for a friend.
Anyways, I was approached by her at the gym and we started conversing about training etc. She had noticed the size I had put on in the last little while and asked about a few things - nothing specific. As the conversation went on she told me that she was training for an upcoming show in November. Her stats are that she is 24, 5'6" and 124 at 10%b/f. Been training bodybuilding style for about a year now. Her diet consists of 5-6 meals per day of the usual chicken breast, rice, and veggies thing. She is wanting to compete at around the 114 lb mark which by the shows guidelines put her at a light weight. It is a novice UNTESTED show. Any suggestions? Advice from the ladies would also be wonderful too I moved this to the female Anabolic section, Skyfire

IMHO, at 5'6 she needs to be about 20 lbs heavier for BBIng.
114 is way to light at her height. Hell, I'm 5'4", and I was 125 on stage....and I need to be bigger. What are you needing help with? As for her BF, did she tell you she's 10%, or is that just your estimate?

She wanted to be 114 because thats the cut off before middleweight in this show. She does not want to compete in that class. Not sure why. Her body fat percentage is what she told me it was, but looks about right when she lifted her shirt to show her abs.
She is basically wanting to cut up sharply for the show without losing too much muscle mass in the process. She is also worried about hitting the timing right for any such cycle. I feel awkward talking about some of this with her, as Im not sure about the effects women may/may not endure from specific cycles. Any suggestions, experiences you had would be great - thanks

She is going to lose muscle mass no matter what she does. I just finished a contest prep, and I lost around 9 lbs of muscle. That was WITH the assistance of "supplements". What sort of "things" is she considering? Has she done anything in the past? She doesn't have time to do any sort of bulking or gaining cycle. Any cycle she does will be in efforts to maintain what she has. Even then, she's gonna lose muscle. What she really needs to do is count backwards from the date of her show. If she hasn't done a show before, she will probably need to diet for 8 weeks; IF her BF is what you say it is. So, that takes her to sometime in September to start her contest dieting. Just because she has abs, doesn't mean she's 10%. She needs to get in touch with someone who can do her BF weekly to gauge progress, and make necessary changes if need be.

She hasnt done any sort "additional supplements" in the past. I agree that she will tall and thin on stage compared to her competition. And also that its probably a little late in the game to think about getting any serious mass going.
I think all she wants is to show good vascularity for the show, and in latter shows come in with more mass. This will be her first show shes ever done. She has asked about using clen as a cutter.

AT the regional NPC shows, they usually award on detail for the most part. So, if she wants to do well, she's going to have to come in shredded. IF she is going to do a contest diet, then yes, it's too late to try to put on any mass. As for the Clen, I used it for my pre-contest. I think it helps a little, BUT you need to caution her that it is only there to SUPPLEMENT. It is NOT the magic pill. It is the combination of diet, cardio, and fat and carb manipulation, that take her body from one extreme to the other. Clen is just a bonus to help get ridIf she is as lean as she thinks, then why does she need a cutter at all?

maybe you should give your friend this web site so that she can chat personally with RS and the gang to get some help - just a thought!
