Thumbs up Here we go again....

Well, all I can say is that I am a total fat ass right now. Although if I think about it , I was about this BF last winter (17%). What is it about winter????

Anyway, the squirrel will be starting another contest diet come January 1....but not for a show.

My company sends the top performers in the company on a sort of 'reward trip' every year. This year it's in Maui. We are going the last weekend in February for 9 days. Needless to say, I have absolutely NO desire to have any noticeable flaws when I'm laying out on the beach!

The goal is to lose 15 lbs, and 5% BF.

T minus 10 days!.

You've proved you can do it already. There's no doubt you will. Just don't lose sight of the goal ahead. You'll be looking killer again by feb. Keep us posted.

Week 2 update...

Last week, I eased into it. I did my 4 day workout (doing Big Beyond Belief right now, mostly for the change) and did my 4 days of cardio. However, it was all erased on the weekend. I have got to stop that! Saturday night there was a party and they rented a party bus to go out. Needless to say, Sunday was just screwed......

Anyway, this week is a new week. I'm doing cardio twice a day. Once at the gym for 30 min, and once at home before bed for 20-25 min; in addition to my workouts.

So far I've lost 3 lbs....12 more to go!

We may want to put her banning powers under supervision while on this diet or we might find ourselves with a few (Hundred) less members

Good luck. I don't understand how someone can do a 20-30 minute cardio session before going to bed. I wouldn't go to sleep for 3-4 hours. Do you have a trick? BB

So, is 2 months a standard time frame for trying to lose about 5%bf. I want to do the same thing and have been trying to read up on cutting routines. It seems like alot of people use 2months-is there a reason for that?

Well, after all of the holiday gluttony, I only had about 2 months...Lack of time to lose more would be a better reason. 5% BF in 2 months is difficult. Average loss per week is about 1/2%, so that only puts makes it about a 4% loss, but 5% is possible...that's why I kicked up the cardio to 45-50 min/day, and I'm taking a few supps to help as well.

Honestly, BB....I do the cardio for about 20-25 min..pack my meals for the next day and then get ready to go to bed. You'd be surprised at your level of exhaustion at the end of the day.

I will also comment on this- this workout (Big Beyond Belief) is awesome. I am SO SORE!!!!! And the funny thing is, I'm getting stronger! Now mind you I was out of commission because of the twins so my strength suffered....especially with chest. However, yesterday, I did Bent over Rows w/ 80 lbs barbell for 12 reps!!! The next was Smith Flat Bench and I pushed out 40 lbs on each side for another 12!!

I think this time around it will be a little different just because I don't have the pressure of getting up in front of 200 people on stage. This time, it's just a personal challenge. I've been too afraid to do my BF, but this week I will start. I know the scale won't move as much as I want it to, so if I have my BF done, then I will be able to feel good about my progress. I can already tell a difference in the way I look and the way my clothes fit. I'm sure mostly the reason is water loss, but who cares. LOL. At least it's progress!

Thanks for all the support!

Well, it's this book that my husband has. Basically the gist of things is to train so hard and so often that you ALMOST reach the point of overtraining. At that point, you back off your intensity. There are basically 3 phases of the program. The first two weeks here's what my workouts look like (aside from cardio)

Mon- Chest- Back- Bi's- Calves all parts for 3 sets for 13-15 reps
Tues- Quads-Delts-Bi's- Tri's- Abs- 3 sets, 13-15 reps
Wed- OFF
Thurs- Chest-Back-Hams (3 sets for 10-12), Bi's, Tri's, Delts (1 set each)
Fri- *Which is usually Saturday because I've been too sore! LOL!
Same as Tues, only for 8-10 reps.

Next week I will increase my sets to 4....Then 2 weeks later I will back off the intensity. 2 weeks after that I will be doing EVERY body part, EVERYDAY!!!

I'm not taking any AAS, so I'm obviously not going to gain a lot of mass by doing this workout, but some hopefully. I'm interested to see the results by doing this and seeing the true value of changing and overhauling your workouts! I'm also thinking that the workout may have a little to do with why I've only lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks....I'm hoping, anyway....

Remember, the scale can be deceiving. Go by your clothes and the mirror until you do the bf%.

That training looks interesting. Let us know how you like it.

OK, whatever works for you is great. One thing Puddles said about weight---DON'T get on scales. If you're training hard, naturally your muscles are going to grow, thus, you're more dense, hence, heavier--pound wise. Pay attention to being "overwaist" as opposed to being "overweight". If most of the people on this board would look at a standard Height/weight chart, they'd be "overweight". They're heavier due to being muscular. Of course you know all this, just thought I'd remind you. How your clothes fit and how you look to you in the mirror usually tells the whole story. Again, good luck and have fun on your trip you lucky hussy, lol. BB

I'm starting my cutting on Sunday-shooting for 5% by April 15th. Would you still recommend this program and are you still losing about 1/2% per week? I gotta make this 5% or I'll be pissed! Right now I'm just planning on switching from high carb, high protein, some fat to lower carb, high protein, some fat and then bumping cardio to every day. I haven't decided what kind of lifting schedule to keep. I've been doing one or two body parts per day and once a week per body part. I can't imagine your last two weeks of doing every body part every day. How long do those workouts last?!

It's going okay, I guess. I still need to lose about 5lbs in 2 weeks. My cardio is kicked up, and diet is strict. Body fat is right at 15%. I'd like to lose another % by vacation in 2 weeks

One thing that is really strange for me is how my body looks compared to when I started dieting last year. I've lost muscle, and that's really ok with me....that was sort of my intent. I know I was taking a truckload of stuff last year to help prevent too much muscle loss. However, my body just isn't shaping up the way it did last year. It's really strange. I am thinner, pants fit better, etc. But I still feel flabby...not as hard. Funny how a good diet and some AAS can make a world of difference.

5% by April 15th should be enough time to lose it.

As for the 1/2% per week, it honestly holds most true when doing a contest diet. HOWEVER, I started dieting about 5 weeks ago, and I've lost about 2% bf...so, pretty much on target minus a few cheat meals...and Mardi Gras..LOL.

How long have you been doing 1 bodypart a week?

My workouts before I do cardio are only about 40-45 minutes.

I've probably been doing one body part/wk for about 14months now. Maybe it's time to change it up?

So when you do workouts then cardio, do you feel like your muscles are in a catabolic state for too long by not refueling them after hitting them hard?

I've never done this low carb dieting thing but I started a little early and I find myself craving things that I never even looked at when I was eating clean but getting plenty of carbs! This is gonna be a long two months. I never used to really have cheat meals, but I'm looking forward to having one this weekend--and boy am I gonna cheat!

Don't compare this year to last...last year you were doing things completely differently. You got super lean and having felt you body in that state you'll probably carry over some overly harsh feelings about being at normal bf now. Try to just enjoy yourself, and when you're on vacation, take a good look at what's around you, you'll still be in the top 1% I'm sure!

Are you enjoying the different training method? Will you be sticking with it after vacation or changing back to what you used to do?

Thanks for bitch slapping me, really! I needed that. So many times, we are our own worst critics.

You're absolutely right. I do have harsh feelings about it! LOL. I know I'm not doing things not nearly as hard core as last year, but still expecting the same effects.

And I'll probably be one of the fittest people there....I keep forgetting that the general population doesn't look like we do.

MUAH!
