Protein Shake question

I've been using 100% Whey Protein the last few weeks. Sometimes it really messes with my stomach and gut. How does everyone else drink theirs? I am intaking around 45g protein including the milk. I eat a good breakfast, then a protein shake around 9:30. Should I try to eat something before, or after or as I drink the shake? Some kinds of protein have messed with me more than others. This one isn't bad all of the time, but it really messes with me at times. I have a 10# bag that needs used up. I've knocked out a few pounds, but I don't want to fight it all of the time. Any suggestions on something to eat with the shake? Granola bar? Banana? Yogurt? I'm open to suggestions. Just curious.

try it with water, you might be slightly lactose intolerant.

I've tried them with water. I can barely gag them down that way. I'd rather eat a can of tuna than mix the shakes with water. Thanks for the suggestion though.

When its mixed with water, you just have to scull. Use only as much water as you can scull in one breath. You only taste things when you stop & aloow your taste senses to taste it. If you keep sculling till its gone, you wont taste it untill you stop. By that time its GOOOONE! If you stop half way through, it then becomes a mind game. Hammer it in one go (as I have read people on here call it). You could also try blocking your nose while you scull. Your taste sensations are reduced dramatically when your smell is taken away.

hehe. I was nearly going to interpret scull, but I thought it might be a universal word

Scull means to drink in one go. One breath (well in Aussie slang thats what it means. I wouldnt go qouting the dictionary on that one). When people drink beer from those long yard glasses? We chant *scull, scull, scull, scull* while they attempt to down it in one go. I'm sure ive read some of the guys on here use the term *hammer it* in a drinking description. I got the impression that was eqivelant to our *scull it*.

For me it depends on the make, I have one now made by body fortress and if I use the blender its fine no probs, and I mix 3 x 25 gram scoops with like 600ml skim milk.

Other ones I've had, if I put anything over 1 scoop in it gave me gut ache and the squits.

I use clacium casienate to bump my protien a couple of times a day, for that I blend it in the morning and have one mid morn and one mid afternoon, and that doesn't bother me at all, does take a while to dissolve into the milk though.

GearTripper will become famous soon enough
a lot of protein powders have some creatine added into the mix which can be hard on the stomach first thing in the AM. what i've also done is use egg-whites instead of milk occasionally and cut down on the amount of actual liquid you're ingesting so as to get it all down within 30 seconds tops. make sure you don't sit and think about what you're drinking or you'll start gagging and shit. i've come to realize i'm not always eating for taste but for growth and nutrition. i like to think of it as breathing at this point so don't give it too much thought and you'll be able to get down anything.

Our protein Isolate has zero carbs, zero calories, and zero lactose, it also tastes great no worries about having to chug it. The answer to your question is, why don't you try mixing your protein in with different recipies, pasta, brownies, snacks throughout the day, the take like ten minutes to whip up and you can eat a boatload of it at the same time.
