Gym hangover
I like working out hard, with a lot of intensity. Unfortunately I've been getting serious "gym hangovers" the next day. I take the usual supplements and eat clean aside from occasional relaxed cheat meals. Monday morning I did a full body workout, lots of squats to the point that I wanted to puke and couldn't stand up, close grip benching to failure, etc. No cardio that day, other than a 15 minute moderate cooldown walk on the treadmill. Monday night I spotted for my buddy at my home gym. I knew I was mostly done in so didn't do too much myself other than four or five sets of crunches, calf raises and forearm work.
This morning I was pretty well destroyed. I got up and dressed for morning cardio, but my body said no fucking way so I went back to bed. I am not particularly sore, but I have no appetite, no energy, can barely move around, and generally feel like total ass. I don't know if I'm actually coming down with something, since this is the worst it's been yet, but I've run into this before to a lesser degree. I'm taking L-glutamine, BCAA's and some vitamin supps, but it's not helping. It's hard for me to accept that the little enough I do in the gym these days (compared to a few years back) is overtraining. Bleh. I'm pushing 40, not the grave. Sucks to be me. I'm not really satisfied with the amount and intensity of the training I do as it is, and if I have to decrease it I'm going to be really pissed. |

Sounds like your body might need a good rest. Why don't you take like a week off and see what happens. I bet you'll fel better.

Sounds like over training. 2 options, get more rest in between or go on a cycle.

Sounds great. You don't mind helping me shave my chest, do you?
I get insanely busy, especially over the holidays, and it's about all I can manage sometimes to hold down work, gym time and boyfriend time. Hanging out online tends to be the first casualty of an insane schedule. Doesn't mean I don't love you guys! |
