White vs. Whole Wheat

One thing I noticed that is in the diet my trainer put me on is WHITE BREAD. Like...tuna on WHITE and not on WWHEAT bread. Why is this? Aren't we all coaxed into believeing that whole wheat is better than white (refined, bleached) flour?

I suspect that it is two reasons...but I want you guys to verify...
1. Whole wheat causes water retention (to process it through your body)??

2. Wheat putts me (women) into pre-menopausal state??

Please elaborate if you could offer any answers...

sana will become famous soon enough
i have no clue, but from a glycemic index perspective, wheat is better. less process = more complex. what does your trainer say when you ask him/her?

well if he has you eating white bread after your training session it will cause your insulin levels to spike quicker than wheat and that is the only reason i can think of why he ouwld purposely pick white over wheat.

however why he would have you eating tuna right after bafffles me because it has fat in it and the fat would slow down the absorbion of protein and during your post workout time you are looking for quick digesting protein and high GI carbs.

that my 2 cents. need more info please!

IMO, you shouldn't be eating any bread at all. If he is trying to put LBM on you post workout, why not a post workout shake?

Well my trainer is out of town, for one..so I was asking you guys to tell me why he would reccommend white over ww. Also I was just using an example of eating tuna on bread afterwards, not like he tells me to do it. Lastly, I am not competing.

He has a girl I know on the same diet, she is training for lighweight female BB in a show in March. Her diet will change im sure come January and her workouts too.

But I hardly eat bread anyways. Only if I fee sick or am hung over (whoops!).

but like I said, I just wasnt sure.

Thanks for your input gals..you guys are great.

a little birdie told me the mentos trick... which would be better than eating white bread and tuna.

eat a roll of mentos following your workout (dextrose)... then have a shake 30 mins later. voila!

The reason your trainer is saying that is because white is the standard that the glycemic index index is setup with, being a score 100. The difference between white and wheat isnt drastic.

The reason I suggest Mentos or Airheads to my clients is theat they are comprised of simples sugars resulting in the desired insulin spike post workout. But it also satisfies the sweet tooth sugar craving that we all get. Ive got complete diet plans setup over at femenine muscle using these little tricks.
