  • Friday Baseball Picks

I went 3-1 last nite for a profit of $185
This week I am up $980 in my baseball bets.

    Todays picks and analysis are:

    Yankees

I don't think you will be able to bet the Yanks at such a low price but maybe a dozen times all year. (-120) Wakefield is an old knuckleballer and he went 5 innings giving up only 3 hits but 5 walks. That's not an unusual amount of walks for a knuckler. Vasquez pitched for the Montreal Expos and he was very good last year. With Randy Johnson and Curt Shilling hurt he led the national league in strikeouts. That's a trivia bet you will win in a bar. Maybe he was second. You look it up. The fact is he is a well kept secret in any event. He went 8 innings allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks and that is good enough to bet the Yanks with their sticks to back him up here.

    Detroit/Cleveland OVER 8 1/2

I'm not real sure why this total is so low. Cornejo allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings of work. More importantly he gave up 4 earned runs. CC is the tribe ace and that should tell you why they are struggling. He has pitched well allowing only 8 hits in 15 innings. That's very impressive. Then why not bet him against the Tigers? He has also allowed an incredible 8 walks which led to his opponents scoring 4 runs in each contest off him. That explains why he is 0-2 even though he pitched well. Walks will kill you and help an over more than anything I know. I'll try it over a low number here.

    Mets

I have to take Tom Terrific here at just -150 against the Pirates. I think Pitt is shell shocked by the last two games against the Cubs. Kip Wells has allowed 12 hits in 12 innings with 7 walks. (see above writeup) Tom the ex-Brave has allowed only 9 hits and 3 walks in 13 innings of work this year. He is 2-0. If Galvine is on as I think he might be, this one could be easy. Worth the bet at least.

    Milw/Houston OVER 9

Another total I don't understand. Davis has allowed 13 hits and 5 walks in just 10 innings of work. He lost his last to these Astros 7-4. He has also graciously given up 4 HR in those 10 innings. That's a lot. Oswalt still doesn't look right to me. He did win that last MLW game 7-4 but he has donated 16 hits and 4 walks in just 13 innings this year. Both these clubs can hit so you tell me why this is so low. But you better talk loudly because I'll be over there at the cashiers window.

    Texas/Seattle OVER 9

I'll bite again on a total over. Meche has given 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings for his only start. Park has allowed an amazing 17 hits and 2 walks in 13 innings pitched. Both teams can hit here too. Should clear the over.

    Arizona/San Diego OVER 7 1/2

Peavy gave 13 hits in 12 innings. Randy Johnson has pitched 13 innings and given 14 hits and 7 walks. 7 WALKS!!!!!! Can't anyone in baseball throw a fucking strike? He never walks anyone. I'll bet he's hurt. The good thing about this over is that if RJ leaves the game and it's left up to the AZ bullpen you can turn off the set and go to sleep smiling. SD will score 8 runs themsleves against one of the worst relief corps in baseball.
