5-5 in my last post (may 29) for a loss of -$75
running total profit for the season of +$1,102
Todays picks are:
LA Dodgers-Even
I would never believe I will go with a team having Jeff Weaver on the mound, but he hasn't been pitching all that bad lately. Weaver has an ERA of 3.32 in his last 3 starts. Weaver also has an ERA of 2.08 against the Brewers. LA finds ways to win at home (as evident in yesterday's victory). They are 15-7 against Milwaukee since 1997. 5-2 in LA against Milwaukee the past 3 seasons. The Brewers are 11-12 on the road and even with their ace on the mound tonight, are not worthy to be favored. LA is 22-14 against righties.
Houston Astros / Chicago Cubs over 9.5 runs -$120.00
I was dying for this line to be released. The Astros hit lefties very well. Their BA against lefties is .288 . Rusch is not as good as his numbers indicates. Rusch has an ERA of 4.17 against Houston. Before yesterdays pitching duel between Maddux and Oswalt, the Cubs have gone over the total 5 straight games. Duckworth has an ERA of 7.00 in two starts. He's yielded 4 homers in those starts. He's only averaged 4.5 innings per start. The Astros bullpen has been the greatest disappointment this season. The pen has an ERA of 4.92 and has allowed 21 homers. I expect a slugfest.
Montreal Expos / Atlanta Braves under 8 -$120.00
Expos O/U against division opponents is 5-18. Braves O/U against division oppoents is 7-11. Braves O/U in night games is 10-23. Expos O/U in night games is 11-24. Wright has an ERA of 1.29 against the Expos. Expos averafe about 2.7 runs a game. Armas has an ERA of 3.30 against the Braves. He was just taken off the DL and had been considered one of Montreal's best hurlers before he was injured last season. If he reverts back to his old form, this should become a snoozer.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays / Minnesota Twins over 10 runs -$130.00
Two pitchers who are likely to just barely make it into the 6th inning. Silva has an ERA of 9.69 and has averaged 4.3 innings during his last 3 starts. Abbott has an ERA of 8.25 and has averaged 4 innings pitched during his last 3 games. Abbott is winless in his last five starts, and has allowed 27 runs - 24 earned - 34 hits and 15 walks in 21 2-3 innings over the stretch. The Devils Rays have scored over 4 runs in 9 of the last 11 games.
Florida Marlins -$220.00
Until Harang starts to show me he can go through 5 innings without nearing the 100 pitch mark, I will have to stay away from him. I had plenty of hope in Harang due to his ROI last season which was 31.1%. His last couple of starts, he had to be pulled by the 6th due to high pitch counts. This is actually a repeat of a match-up from last Thursday's 5-2 Marlin victory. Now the scene switches to Florida. Penny has an ERA of 1.80 in his last 3 starts and has averaged about 6.7 innings per start during that span. This line has blown up from the opening of -$180.00.
Other Games I am playing:
Oakland A's +$125.00
Oakland is 8-1 against the White Sox in Oakland the last 3 seasons.
NY Mets / Philadelphia Phillies over 8.5 runs -$110.00
Toronto Blue Jays -$150.00
The only time I take the Jays is when Halladay's pitching. Even despite Delgado out of the lineup. With Meche pitching, the Jays shouldn't have a problem outscoring Seattle.
St. Louis Cardinals / Pittsburgh Pirates over 10 runs -$125.00
San Francisco Giants -$150.00
running total profit for the season of +$1,102
