Eastern Michigan - Ball State 'Over' 59
This line opened at 55.5 and has now moved almost 60. Do any of you remember the Idaho-EMU game last week and how we all vowed to always take the 'Over' when two garbage MAC teams play each other? Well that time has come.
The EMU Eagles sure can score some points but they have to be one of the worst defensive units in the country. The Eagles average 415.6 total yards per game on offense and are led by QB Matt Bohnet who has passed for over 1100 yards. The Ball State defense is one of the worst they have had in years as they allow 470.6 total yards per game. RB Anthony Sherrell should have a good game as the Cards allow 4.7 yards per carry. You give him that much room and he will burn you. In the air, the Eagles average 6.1 yards per pass attempt and are up against Ball State who allows 9.1 yards per pass attempt. Opposing QB's are completing an average of 69.4% of their passes against the Cards. With only 4 starters back on the Ball State defense, this will be EMU's time to score another 40+ points.
The Ball State Cardinals are 1-4 this season but have faced some tough teams. I have been quite impressed with the play of freshman QB Cole Stinson who ash thrown 4 TD's and only 1 interception. He leads an offense that averages 6.6 passing yards per attempt and that is up against an EMU defense that allows 8.3 yards per pass attempt. Opposing QB's have been destroying EMU' secondary all year and I expect a breakout performance from the Ball State offense. Freshman RB Adell Givens was the featured back last game and has been averaging 4.0 yards or more per carry this year. The EMU defense is like swiss cheese as they allow 4.3 yards per carry and opposing teams average 186.0 yards rushing per game. We will all be forced to watch yet another MAC shootout, so give me the 'Over'.
