Nationals +104
The basis for the play is simple. Jon Leiber struggles vs LHB and the Nationals can run 6 solid ones at him. He faced them on Opening Day in Philly and they hit him well with 10hits and 3 runs in 5+Innings. I know he has pitched real well last 3 but look at the opponents @ STL the LH threats Walker and Edmonds started slow, then at home vs ATL and COL two team with just 1 LH bat and bad road offensive clubs. You can check the numbers Leiber problem is getting LH out especially on the road. So with that in mind and the fact the world will jump on a 4-0 pitcher at even money I really like the Nationals here cause Philly still isnt hitting and Pat the Bat and Lofton could be on the pine again with injuries. Probably will play the Over at some point 7.5 seems to low and the UMP seems to be an OVER UMP..
Over 8.5 -120 Pirates/Astros
Just going to ride it here as the teams average about 6.5 runs combined per game and both have there #2SP on the mound. These two faced eachother last April and Pettitte won 2-0 @ Pitt. How could you possibly lay chalk with a 1-9 team! Home pLate UMP has a tight zone.
Under 3.5 -120 1st 5 Innings Mets/Braves
No reason to believe that Smoltz or Pedro wont once again be on just check eachs last 3 starts! FILTHY!!!!!!!!Obviously 1st H plays are a huge gamble but I dont trust the Mets pen at all! Pedro allowed 11 hits in 4 starts!!!!!!!Smoltz K'd 15 Mets last time out! One drawback the UMP appears to be an OVER UMP.
Over StL/Brewers 9 +107
Davis has been shaky last 2 starst and he doesnt match up well vs STL and I think Suppan will not be anywhere near as sharp as Miller Park.
Athletics -119
Trust me by no means I am a chasing here. Anyway Harden has been excellent and is extremely tough at home. He was very good vs Chicago tice last year and a power pitcher like him should continue to do well against a lineup that doesnt have much LH pop. Sure the A's havent hit or scored in 22 inning sbut some role players like Kielty and Byrnes have solid numbers vs Buerhle who has been solid in his 2 road strts but far from dominanting. Again Chicago never plays well @ Oakland and Buerhle has not registered a WIn there in his career.
Rangers -120
Drese loves pithcing at Arlington for some reason and Piniero sure doesnt. Drese again pitched a great game vs Toronto at home his lone 2005 home start.
Piniero doesnt appear right still getting into forma after teh shoulder injury.
Over 10.5 Seattle/Texas -108
Piniero's track record is not good at Texas and Drese was just okay vs Seattle who has obviously upgraded the offense. It took RJ to silence the Rangers hot bats.
Over 10-107 BJays/DevilRays
Brazleton probably the worst SP in the majors on the road vs Lilly another SP rushed back from injury. TB hits LH well and everyone hits well off Brazleton on the road.
Tigers +1.5 Runs -164
Westbrook has been good but time after time we know the Tribe doesnt hit LH's well and Robertson has been real good vs them as a member of the Tiger rotation.
Orioles +1.5 Runs -180
Lopez has been sharp vs Boston and the Orioes have now won 7 of the last 10 @ Fenway and are just on fire. These guys meet last week and the score was 1-0. Lopez was filthy at Fenway last year.
Under 9.5 -105 red Sox/Orioles
Clement looks good and he is death to RH batters and has owned Baltimore can he do it 2 starts in a row? Lopez has been very good vs Boston and importantly sharp on LH bats! Just 3 runs allowed at Fenway last year in 3 starts!
